Horimiya review
Horimiya's manga has been released for 10 years now, and it's close to its end, one of the last if not the last chapter (not including the upcoming extras) just realized this week. so I thought is that it's a great time to give my review of the work of Hiroki Adachi
Overall I think Horimiya is a not so solid 7/10, on one end is a good comedy with some sprinkle well built romance of a large array of characters ranging from passable to pretty great, but it has some core issues that may really annoy some people to the point of quitting reading entirely, which is understandable, (I'm gonna explain in a bit). So if you are new to the likes of Horimiya give it a shot, chances are you gonna enjoy it quite a bit.
Even been a farewell balance reading it has some fundamental issues that are at some points of the story infuriating, for me its worst problem is the length and planning. Everyone that has ever read Horimiya probably will tell you that the first 40, 50 chapters are really good, they put on a lot of effort at the start of the story the comedy, personal struggles, and romance had a nice balance to it, sometimes you are going to want a bit more sometimes a bit less, nevertheless A solid love story with a handful of believable protagonists.
but as the story capt going they clearly started to lose the direction, many of the core struggles to the character starts to fade, the based romance solidified in comedy slowly becomes a comedy with some romance if you get lucky, shorter and shorter chapters, etc. As I see it .the Author had some initial planning for the story but after 10 years of writing a lot of the central pieces of the core story got swept for cheap comedy.
Don't get me wrong I had a good time reading it thru throughout the end I gradually start wanting more and more of the old romance but I was still happy with what I got, here and there you will still find some of the teens with some struggles living life good stuff in a sea of lighthearted comedy interacting with your lovable characters, Not bad but for some, it will get bad, personally, I like the other characters that show up on the ride, so when the story deviates from our main duo and focus more on them I still foud enjoyment, For some people that is unforgiving for other is a blessing, but you should definitely read at least the first 60 or so chapter of this good manga, not a fantastic one a good one I would for sure put it in a 6.5/10 but I can't so 7/10
~hope you like it :)

Horimiya review
I'm writing my first ever review just to let out my frustration with this manga. It started decent, and me, being a loving slice of life manga reader was happy about it. The story was simple: two teenagers -classmates- who don't speak to each other found themselves outside of school only to discover that both of them are pretty different of what they seem to be in school. slowly, they start to know each other and calmly fall in love. that's it.
how can you ruin that? well, it was possible! the first third of the manga it's great, just a simple story with light humor and good art but it's in the second third when the story found itself in trouble to keep the humor up and started to put a lot of unfunny jokes and on top of that a lot of domestic violence jokes. Hori, the girl, choose violence every time she gets mad (which is a lot of times) and things don't go the way they planned which ends up in having SEVERAL occasions when Miyamura, the boy, arrives to school wounded and everyone joking about how Hori is a demon.
By the last third the story just gets unbearable, there's no way you can call that relationship "love" when it's based on Miyamura tip-toeing aroung Hori to not make her mad and Hori having trouble with the lack of character Miyamura has. The boy honestly doesn't even seem to have opinions, he just adapts to whatever Hori wants. The "growth" of the characters doesn't have any sense, we had Hori not making a single comment on Miyamura's piercings for the whole manga and Miyamura saying that it was one of the reasons he likes Hori it's because she doesn't judge people to have her to be 100 episodes in and have her get mad and resort to violence when Miyamura decide to start using his piercings again (that he stopped wearing because of school policies).
I don't really know what else to say as i think my examples get my point across. This series lost his argument and now it's an interchangeable school love story you can find anywhere.

Horimiya review
This is my first review over something I have read and I'm writing it because I am simply disappointed in this manga. I read it as chapters were coming out a while back then I dropped it, but its been a bit since then so I picked it back up again. Once again... I am debating on dropping it. I feel like the fundamentals characteristics of the characters change. At the beginning they had this whole secret thing that fueled them, but then Hori switches and just allows some girl that she just met over to her house. A basic no-no that wouldn't happen at
the beginning of the manga. Also the story between the main characters I think just begins to fall out.
And despite my disappointment, I can't bring myself to rate this badly because I enjoyed this for the most part until I felt like I was reading a different story than I started. The story is a cute story and all the characters are like-able but my main issue is with the way they structured this manga. My major tip for anyone looking into this is expect changes don't get too attached to how things are at the beginning.
Any ways seeing all these 10 and 9 ratings really frustrated me and after taking the time to re read it and everything I am even more frustrated in this manga it makes me feel like rating it around a 4, but that would not be an accurate rating of the manga. Anyways, read if you wish.

Horimiya review
I give an 8 in all aspects, the art is simple and cute, the characters are MORE than decent, the story is simple and beautiful, however, the ENJOYMENT of the series could be more, at times it can be slow and boring, BUT When he strives to move forward, he really succeeds and brings a lot of beautiful romance to the table.
horimiya is a manga with a very simple story, miyamura and hori are classmates who did not use to interact much, but for life reasons, now they are friends, great friends. so much so that their classmates think they are dating and have a romantic relationship.
seriously speaking, is horimiya a good manga? of course yes !, obviously it depends on who is reading it. to some, it will seem very slow and boring, and others will know how to wait for those key moments to arrive, where romance advances a lot.
the most what i like is the one that the rest of the characters matter for the protagonists, for their actions, development, etc. although the central focus is always on hori and miyamura....
Now, I think the BEST thing that I can highlight from the work is the character of Miyamura Izumi, it is the most SMALL and BEAUTIFUL thing that I saw in my life, as soon as this character appears I find myself obliged to praise him and wish that soul the best so beautiful. I REALLY NEED a miyamura in my life :(
In conclusion, give horimiya a try, no matter how repetitive it seems or how many similar manga you can find to this one, it is still a VERY GOOD JOB that deserves to be read.

Horimiya review
This manga is very sweet with romance and it doesn't have that much of typical shoujo cliches.
The characters are well developed and the plot is easy to follow, really enjoyable, plus it also emphatizes how the couple feelings blossom in the day by day routine as an amazing slice of life.
Art is also amazing and, c'mon, it is impossible to not like Miyamura! He's so sincere and gentle, and shines even brighter when he feels he found his place to belong among his friends and Hori.
However, at some point, the romance loses the focus and the history becomes something like a filler. It is still enjoyable, but not that good. If you would like to read some well developed romance, the first chapters are really charming and it's worth a try.

Horimiya review
Horimiya is an extremely cute, fun-to-read, solid shoujo with a great art style. I managed to read for a long while, usually in a I-don't-want-to-put-this-down style marathon, but was ultimately stopped by some problems that had my momentum screeching to a halt.
1) The author obviously doesn't know much about piercings...I think if you don't have many piercings yourself this is easy to ignore, but as someone with snakebites it's really hard to hold onto the suspension of disbelief when this kid takes out all 10-dozen of his piercings at his school and no one ever notices the holes.
(slight spoiler warning)
2) When they got into Miyamura's backstory with the self-piercing...first off, it was just a shock to see blatant self-harm (and that's what it is, he's explicitly trying to hurt himself, but I don't think the narrative wants to frame it that way) in my cute shoujo. I love dark stories, but there's a time and place and I felt like it betrayed the expectations the genre, and thus the reader. Secondly, again as someone with piercing knowledge, I couldn't stop thinking about how this story would unintentionally model piercing with a safety pin to lots of people...that's so dangerous.
3) Later in the story (well into the established relationship) these kids just start practicing amateur BDSM?? During school??? I had to stop there. Obviously kids are allowed to experiment in their relationships, but it just felt....irresponsible. I couldn't read it anymore. Maybe in a different story it would be fine, but in my light hearted shoujo? No thank you.

Horimiya review
ok.. so.. even though this manga aint finished im up to chapter 66. and this shoujo manga is quite different from other ones because the main couple actually got together sooner than expected.
story: i gave this a 9 because it didnt have a lot of plot/drama but its somewhat great in its own way.. the plot is about 2 people and how they're different from inside and outside school.. hori-san seems like your normal teenage hs girl but does housework and takes care of her little brother at home... while miyamura-kun is kind of a loner/nerd at school and uh apparently he has lots of piercings and even tattoos. this is the type of manga that i would wait for to read haha..
art: i really like the art.. it's not the best but its good.
character: :) one of my favorite character is hori's dad
enjoyment: i gave this a 10 because it never bored me even though the plot seems kind of dull and plain.
overall: 10 :D horimiya is one of my favorite shoujo mangas

Horimiya review
Horimiya is a great manga. It isn't a master piece and it's not meant to be one. Likeable characters, great art and a story that will sometimes make you laugh and sometimes make you cry.
Story (7)
I think that the manga is more about character development and interaction, but it's still a good story that can be a bit cliché sometimes. It doesn't have exaggerated and unnecessary drama.
Art (8)
It's simple and nice with good character designs.
Characters (9)
They're likable and all of them get their deserved character development. Kyoko is awesome, she'll make you laugh a lot, she is a strong woman (different from most female main characters in romance) and she can be cute a lot of times. Izumi is not your typical shy character; he's a great, strong, funny, and well developed character and his piercings and tattoos help a lot with his uniqueness. All the secondary characters are great too, specially Kyoko's family.
Overall (8)
Basically, Horimiya is a great manga and if you like romance, you should give it a try.

Horimiya review
Overall, Horimiya very quickly and very easily made its way into my top 5 favorite romance manga's/anime's; and that's saying something, because I've been on somewhat of a romance-binge for the past two years.
I'm VERY particular about my romance (many aspects of reading or watching romance annoy me to no end, so I end up dropping a lot of what I start), so I hope you take that into consideration when I say that this manga has an arsenal of badassery going for it.
I will say, before I continue, that this manga is relatively simple. It has some complexity in certain areas, but not much. It's very straightforward. This generally bugs me about romance manga, but the mangaka and artust did such an excellent job of tying it all together.
Story: 8.5/10
The ONLY reason I didn't give it a 9 is because it's an extended version of Slice of Life. And believe me, there is nothing wrong with that. I enjoy SOL. But this certainly isn't a day-to-day, or even week-to-week breakdown of what's happening in the lives of these 7+ very interesting and complex characters. The story line is super good, and a strong point, but not THE strongest point. They did an excellent job of adding enjoyment to something so simple.
Art: 10/10
Hooo-ly shi*. Such precision, so many gorgeous angles... I loved how seamlessly the art during comedic moments flowed into the serious ones.
Character: 9/10
Every character, from the anti-hero (esque) to the main leads to the support, were so lovable. Again, very straightforward but great.

Horimiya review
I'm writting this because i started reading Horimiya and dropped it at chapter... 11 i think. This never happened to me before, but i also never read something so stupid to happen in a manga since Fairy Tail.
I'm not gonna spoil what but you can read said chapter and see what was it. The manga was fun, i laugh a lot when Miyamura said he was on his period (!) but the series itself had no direction and nothing happened.
And then this shit, so forced, so useless, so put there just for drama but taking the story nowhere.
This series looks good, the drawing is cute and its the tipical fangirls bait, but, just, i cant read this anymore.
Still, give it a chance if you want. Im just too biased for the moment, maybe it gets better. Please be welcome to correct me so.

Horimiya review
This is my first review so I won't be doing anything too fancy with it, but I figured it was worth letting my feelings be known in case anyone else is considering giving this a read.
As a romantic comedy, Horimiya excels. The main romance is extremely cute to watch unfold(Though occasionally does suffer from moments that make me cringe from embarrassment), and the few side romances are a nice distraction, even if a few are unnecessary/forced. Most of the jokes tend to land rather well, but there are a few longer running jokes that seem a bit forced and drawn out.
What Horimiya doesn't excel at, however, is following through on it's premise. The idea of hiding a secret life is something that was pretty prominent in the beginning, but at the current chapter number(91) it is almost entirely irrelevant. I don't necessarily think this is a bad thing, since I tend to enjoy the more recent chapters more than the earlier ones, but it is something to keep in mind.
Horimiya isn't groundbreaking in any way. It's characters are all pretty by the books, it's romance plays it safe, and there's no huge overarching plotlines going on outside of a few crushes. However, it is an extremely enjoyable read that I'd recommend to anyone looking for a slice of life romance.

Horimiya review
I don't want to linger too long on writing this review as there is no point in going too deep into it.
Story started off nicely but once the two main characters had their development it just went nowhere. It's like reading how highschool was but it was somehow less eventful than real life highschool.
It started off as an 8 for me because of the first plotline. This dwindled down to a 7 and eventually a 6.5/7 out of 10.
In the end I was just reading because I was already halfway through anyway so it would be a waste to drop it, and I was curious about how they'd end it. Sadly enough it wasn't the ending a certain chapter built up towards.

Horimiya review
I initially started reading this because I heard it was getting adapted by Cloverworks, and since I really enjoyed Rascal Does Not Dream of a Bunny Girl Senpai I decided to give the manga a go to see if the anime would be something I would enjoy. I can definitely say that I had a great time with this.
Personally, even though the manga kind of lost all sense of plot in the latter half, I really enjoyed it the entire way through. I loved watching the characters interact with each other and learn more about each other. The manga somehow made the must mundane sequences entertaining and I think it's mostly due to how likable the main characters are. No matter what situation they're in or how trivial it is to the main story, I couldn't help but love reading each chapter. Each moment reveals a little bit more about each character, investing you in them and making them seem more real.
It's also coincidental that the manga would end just as I'm ending my last year of high school. I don't really know how to express what I'm feeling. High school has been a weird experience for me and in some ways this manga compliments those feelings, but in others opposes them. I almost wish I could approach my graduation with as much nostalgia and excitement as the characters do.
It just kind of sucks that the manga is over. I really enjoyed this.

Just read this I already wrote a review for the anime, I'm not doing it again. It's just fucking awesome. The characters, the romance, the friendship, the development, the realism , the comedy, everything. they're like real people, but with soulmates. It has well written normal introverts that aren't absolute pussies and good women who aren't just, you know, manga women. they're good. they're real. Just read this or watch it idk goddammit
MAL let me post this review please I just want people to know how simple yet awesome this is. Not to fight with the toradora or maid sama fans but this doesn't have any exaggerated characters or strage plot points. these are developed beautiful humans. anyway be ready, if you like weird drama this isn't for you. Horimiya is just heartwarming casual encounters of teenagers with life. and they react to them like teenagers.

I LOVED this manga. At first, I just stumbled upon it in the library, then I started reading it, I binge read it for about a week or two and finished the whole series. Miyamura kun is so hot and romantic I actually want him to be my boyfriend. To be completely honest I cried laughing and was on the verge of getting an asthma attack because their relationship is hilarious. My favorite scene and the one I nearly died because of was a couple of pages where Hori san asked Miyamura kun if she could clean his ears and I forgot what character but
one of Hori san's boy-friends showed sympathy for Miyamura kun. The pain :')

You may think that this review is ridiculous but I'm here to tell you that this is one of the best romance mangas I've every read. It is still underrated which makes me really sad because isn't getting the attention that it needs, but other than that this there is nothing that troubles me about this manga. This manga has very clean art that is very easy to understand. The timing and comedy in this is also perfect. Then there are sudden moments where your heart just goes "kyun~" and you just can't help it. The romance is definitely there but it isn't over done
like some other romance mangas. Another thing is that the main heroine is mentally and physically strong but has a weak side like everyone else in the world. It's so down to earth and I'm having such a fun time reading this manga. Hope you have fun reading this too!

Horimiya review
Horimiya is just a simple shoujo. Nothing out of the box, with a clean art, interesting characters and nice supporting characters. I dare say that reminds me of Karekano, the on/off personality that they don't want to show.
So why you should read this manga? Well, I don't know, but I can be sure you that if you read it, you won't regret.
After reading a lot of romance manga, you start to get more and more demanding, just any love story won't fulfill your needs. So it gets harder and harder to find new shoujo that can please your taste. That happened to me, and Horomiya felt like a Oasis in the middle of the desert. Like I said, there's nothing super different in this manga when compared to others, what makes it nice is how flawless everything is in this story.
First the art, I love this art that seems clean, that doesn't have that many details but can still be beautiful. It's really pleasing to the eyes.
The characters are unique. The way the author made them is incredible, they could have gone all wrong and have been the most annoying and plain characters ever, but they are just perfect. Not that perfect boring, but in a way we can enjoy their craziness and their cute side too, they are totally 3D characters.
The story fits perfectly the art and the characters, it's simple, no much drama, the author doesn't rush things so we can wait anxiously for the next chapter and so that we don't loose interest so easily.
This manga isn't something super original and new, but in the middle of so many other plain and boring shoujo, it has it's own flavor and uniqueness, making it seem like an original between many copies.

Horimiya review
Horimiya is a true romance manga.
Horimiya doesn't have the typical romance drama. Some people like the drama, but I'm not the biggest fan of it. A lot of the drama in romance is just there to pad the run time in my opinion. Oh, you think those two are finally getting together? Here is a new character that messes it all up. They finally start dating? Oh, the father doesn't approve and they have to break up, adding 50 more chapters. Horimiya doesn't have that.
It's a story of two people who love each other. Hori, the popular girl, takes care of her little brother. Miyamura doesn't have the tattoos and piercings because he is edgy, he got them because he's stupid. He's a loveable idiot.
Once they get together, they stay together, and the rest of the show is just them being together. It's similar to Tonikawa in that regard.

Horimiya review
I found Horimiya a while ago, and so far I have reread it two times. It is a great manga, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
As far as the story goes, it is very good. There are some small areas where I got a bit lost, but for the most part, it has a very good story and it is very intriguing.
Art is a very important aspect in anime & manga, and while Horimiya doesn't have my favorite art, its art is still good.
The characters in the story are outstanding. Each character has a unique personality, and it all fits into the story.
Overall, I enjoyed this manga very much, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Horimiya review
You know how romance anime tends to capitalize on the main couple-to-be? because they're the only interesting characters in the whole story because of their high concept? because nothing exists in a relationship past the confession? because they have to stretch it out and keep publishing chapters for their one successful title?
At a first glance, it may look like one of those high-concept romance stories, with the mutual secrecy and the 'class hierachy' between the two. However, everything reminiscent of a cliche gets resolved quickly and satisfactorily, and only serves to kickstart the story.
For once, you shouldnt judge a romance story by its cover, because it actually manages to deliver on being a wholesome, fun read. For the cynics out there, it's easier to explain what it objectively didnt do wrong, rather than babble on about all the many many things it did right, because those are more subjective.
Every background character could fill a small manga of their own. Every character interaction is wholesome, and without contrived drama. Despite this, it still manages to be engaging. There is real, natural romantic progression. There is fun, there is friendship, there are fuzzy feels. What more could you want?
In my case, my enjoyment is increasing with each chapter, instead of rapidly falling at the half-way point, and its a little bundle of sunshine each time it releases. I heartily recommend it
