Horimiya's manga has been released for 10 years now, and it's close to its end, one of the last if not the last chapter (not including the upcoming extras) just realized this week. so I thought is that it's a great time to give my review of the work of Hiroki Adachi
Overall I think Horimiya is a not so solid 7/10, on one end is a good comedy with some sprinkle well built romance of a large array of characters ranging from passable to pretty great, but it has some core issues that may really annoy some people to the point of quitting reading entirely, which is understandable, (I'm gonna explain in a bit). So if you are new to the likes of Horimiya give it a shot, chances are you gonna enjoy it quite a bit.
Even been a farewell balance reading it has some fundamental issues that are at some points of the story infuriating, for me its worst problem is the length and planning. Everyone that has ever read Horimiya probably will tell you that the first 40, 50 chapters are really good, they put on a lot of effort at the start of the story the comedy, personal struggles, and romance had a nice balance to it, sometimes you are going to want a bit more sometimes a bit less, nevertheless A solid love story with a handful of believable protagonists.
but as the story capt going they clearly started to lose the direction, many of the core struggles to the character starts to fade, the based romance solidified in comedy slowly becomes a comedy with some romance if you get lucky, shorter and shorter chapters, etc. As I see it .the Author had some initial planning for the story but after 10 years of writing a lot of the central pieces of the core story got swept for cheap comedy.
Don't get me wrong I had a good time reading it thru throughout the end I gradually start wanting more and more of the old romance but I was still happy with what I got, here and there you will still find some of the teens with some struggles living life good stuff in a sea of lighthearted comedy interacting with your lovable characters, Not bad but for some, it will get bad, personally, I like the other characters that show up on the ride, so when the story deviates from our main duo and focus more on them I still foud enjoyment, For some people that is unforgiving for other is a blessing, but you should definitely read at least the first 60 or so chapter of this good manga, not a fantastic one a good one I would for sure put it in a 6.5/10 but I can't so 7/10
