Resumen
Ando Hanaka wanted to become stronger because she thought she couldn't protect her friend from bullies. Now as she enters high school, she seeks to enter many of the martial arts clubs in her school. Unfortunately for her, many of the clubs reject her due to her frail and small size. She just wants to be stronger, but is it going to be impossible for her?
All of this changes as she encounters her classmate Yoshino "Koha" Koharu. Koha introduces Hanaka to the world of MMA. Hanaka learns that martial arts is designed to make the weak stronger. Her aspirations of becoming stronger may come true as she ventures into the world of mixed martial arts.

Hanakaku review
Seemed like a promising counterpoint to Teppuu. Then the mangaka solved the lack of a concrete antagonist by inserting one of my least favorite archetypes, The Walking Bitch Toggle, into the story. You may have seen this archetype before. Seems like a normal person until five pages later when someone does something minor that pisses them off and suddenly The Walking Bitch Toggle's sole purpose in life is dedicated to destroying that person and everything they love. Creating a character who is ridiculously hateable is not how you make a good antagonist. Even Nintendo walked it back with Lusamine. But I digress. My enjoyment of
the manga plummeted with the introduction of a single character and if I hadn't picked this for the 2018 Manga Reading Challenge, I wouldn't have read it.

Hanakaku review
The major problem with this manga is the fact that the short chapter length makes it feel like a new promising serialization that just abruptly got the axe just after it got started. It's like if you ended history's greatest disciple Kenichi at chapter 21. I weep for what could have been but celebrate what I did get the pleasure of reading. Some may find the main villains campy as hell and walking 80s anime tropes, but I find them charming all the same. You really want to fucking stab this bitch, in fact when I read this I fantasized about poking this bitch's
eyes out in anger while imagining what the MC was feeling. Another negative is that since the story is so short and it's a fighting manga you never really see the MC's talent and potential fully bloom and transform into a monster that can't be stopped like in other long form sports manga like prince on tennis or major. I highly recommend basically every manga I mentioned in my review and of course the titular manga in which this review is of. Art might as well be a ten because it serves it's purpose just fine. Good translation as well although the cat girl is a demerit for sure lol.
