Resumen
A classmate learns that Minazu Aruto loves reading novels and short stories so she recommends a club that the school has called the Philosophia. The classmate doesn’t really know what the club is about but the name sparks a curiosity in Aruto and he decides to find out what it is. He goes to the old library on campus where he meets and is introduced to all three members of the group: Tomoe, Takaho and Kaede. Without really being explained what the Philosophia club is about, Aruto finds himself joining what he thinks is a literature club.

Gakuto no Vector review
This is a manga that doesn't really seem to go anywhere. I feel that it set up a premise of being related to philosophy, and applying that to various situations to slowly reveal what the club is about and that being profound in some way. But that never happens. And at the end the mystery of what the club is gets resolved through a simple explanation, which I didn't even feel was an adequate explanation. Rather, the manga ends up doing a bunch of random things that don't seem to have anything connecting them and ultimately there doesn't seem like there's much point at all.
Some of these events are amusing and there are some solid jokes, but nothing that has any impact ever happens. There is no development whatsoever in terms characters, relationships, or plot. The characters seem interesting enough, or at least seem to have an outline of being interesting enough, but they aren't fleshed out at all. Relationships similarly seem like there's potential to be interesting, but there really isn't enough progress beyond some superficial aspects, with the ending especially being rather unsatisfying in that regard. The art was decent but there wasn't much variety with everything mostly looking the same and there not being many especially good-looking shots. The chapter covers were especially lacking.
A manga that has superficially interesting elements, but largely doesn't seem to have much of a point. 6/10 |
