JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken Part 7: Steel Ball Run review
My scores are absolutely rediculous for this manga, I'm sorry, I guess you have to deal with it.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run is the seventh arc of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and in my humble opinion 'The best manga of all time' (Coming from a non JoJo fan by the way). Araki surprised me, with how much he matured over the previous parts he's written. Characters have become more layered, the art style more identical and makes you recognise it's Araki's, The story has become less cliche and characters become more wounded, making a quite 'mature' story. This series is also some kind of reboot of the series, including many characters seen in the previous parts. But enough blabbing, let's go to the criteria.

I'll start off with the characters. Definetly, hands down, the best written characters in the the JoJo series, characters that reappear in Part 7, are much more layered and realistic. I can now fully understand them and sympthasize more with them then I did back in the previous parts. Backstories and such of the characters can become quite brutal at times too in this part, tackling quite intense themes which of nothing I will spoil. The villains are very well done too, it seems Araki stopped using the 'bad guys are bad' cliche and made them human, just being a person with opposite motives than the main characters, which I find absolutely stunning writing.

The story is very interesting too, at the start it had quite a serious atmosphere surrounding it and I was completely pulled in, although being a friggin horse race and having in general no interest to them at all. But ofcourse, the series isn't called 'Jojo's BIZZARE adventure' for no reason. There are some quite weird moments in the series which made me laugh my ass off. The series takes these bizarre moments very seriously and gives the series a more comedic undertone at times. These bizarre moments though, do not distract the storyline. But actually progress the story. I'm not going to say anything more about the story, just see for yourself.

The art is dazzling too, although the main cast looking like friggin models from a magazine, their designs are unique, I had some problems distributing the characters' faces from each other sometimes which is why I gave it a 9. But other than that, the art is flawless, and makes me completely understand what's going on. It also really got that 'bizarre' feel and really supports the bizarre moments in this arc. Backgrounds look photorealistic, while still remaining this 'Araki' feel to them. Araki demonstrates that he now understands the human figure and always, ALWAYS, makes the all the characters stand in this fabulous way, no stiffness at all!

My enjoyment is definetly a 10, I had no regret of reading this manga, and is the first manga I bingeread the fuck out of till the half of it (since I am in school and such I couldn't read till the end yet). There were no moments where I got bored, although maybe flabbergasted. Seriously, give this JoJo arc a try. It's a fresh reboot of the JoJo series, and makes it even more interesting then it already was.

Overall I give this arc a 10 out of 10, a masterpiece, and Araki should be glad of what he's created; Bravo!

EDIT:
The review I had written was made before I even reached the halfpoint of the series, I thoroughly enjoyed Gyro and Johnny's adventures to get the Corpse Parts, but I do think the finale was flawed. Firstly the fight between Lucky Valentine and Johnny is rediculously long, Araki drags the fight out too long and when it finally ends.. He suddenly throws a DIO from an other dimension in, that is very similar to the DIO of part 3. It kind of took me out of the serious atmosphere and caused me to not take it seriously anymore.

I changed the enjoyment to a 9 as I lost my adoration of the series at the final fight against DIO and I changed the story to a 8 due to the story dragging on a bit too long on some parts.

I do still think that Steel Ball Run is one of the best JoJo arcs out there, but it's definitely not the best manga i've ever read.

Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria review
"IT HURTS IT HURTS IT HURTS IT HURTS IT HURTS IT HURTS IT HURTS IT HURTS IT HURTS IT HURTS IT HURTS IT HURTS"

Jokes aside, the HakoMari series sways toward the psychological side with very dark themes. If you are not comfortable with concepts such as murder, suicide, rape, abuse, and self-hatred, don't bother reading the light novel. When I say murder, I mean extremes like cutting people up with a chainsaw or grouping people in a building and burning them alive.

Initially, I read a few reviews for the series. I can confidently refute that the concept of Boxes is not vague and with no logic behind it. Sure, the first one or two volumes made me want to drop the light novel immediately, but just keep reading. Explanations are given that make the book clearer and more understandable. You might need to work your head a little to process what is going on though. Otherwise, you might be inclined to drop a one as the rating.

For the story, protagonist Kazuki lives a normal life with his high school friends. As the plot moves on, he can be called anything but normal. His life is changed with phenomena appearing one after another, with the source originating from "Boxes" that grant people the power to work towards their own wishes. The seven volumes focus on the main characters' roles in the anomalies while introducing their backstories.

The art is very unique, especially the intermission covers. The last few volumes were not able to maintain the luster, but all ends well. In regards to the characters, every one of them is explained in great detail. At least enough to where you can sympathize with them. Still, with all the developments and interactions going on, I can't call favorites on one character over another. I am not fond of any one of them with an intense passion neither.

The enjoyment aspect was a different matter altogether. Without the characters, there was still the plot to enjoy. The series had a unique premise and there was a lot of action. So much that there was little comical relief and pause to the events happening. Retaining so much information in so little time doesn't work out well. The confusing parts discourage readers from consuming the material, leading to disinterest.

With all things being said, this series is worth a read. I don't like stories with vague and unexplained phenomena. Trust me, HakoMari contrasts from Seishun Buta Yarou's quantum physics or Kimi no Na Wa's musubi concept. Give it a try and go break a leg. 8.5/10

Gakuen x Fuusa review
Story: 4
The story is the poorest aspect of this manga. What starts off seemingly interesting with terrorists, high schoolers and zombies turns out to be a disappointment. The story first focuses on gruesome simple games, then zombies, and then on the actual scenario involving the different parties. This eventually becomes a mess the author solves with a huge mayhem, leaving behind loads of plotholes. On the plus side, if you love action you won't be disappointed.

Art: 7
That's the best part of this manga. Its strongest point story wise is the amount of action, and the art depicts that action beautifully. The emotions and movements are both clear, however the characters lack details.

Character: 5
The characters are overall generic and hard to distinguish from each other. There are too many characters and it is thus hard to feel anything when one eventually dies, the manga focusing itself on action instead of character development or scenario. However there are some few interesting characters / villains (Mask & Nerd guy).

Enjoyment: 6
It's fine to read this series to pass time, thanks to its high amount of action, which is actually enjoyable since it allows you to ignore the poor scenario.

Overall: 5
This is overall a series you can afford to read, especially if you love action, zombies and guns, but it's not really worth your time either, since you probably won't gain any remarkable memory or idea from it.

Pupa review
I have read only the 7 scanlated chapters so far, so, this review is based only off of them, but I do believe they are enough for me to judge the manga, because, based on the summary of the untranslated parts, there doesn't seem to be much more to it.

Pupa claims it's a lot of things - "Horror", "Drama", and, most ridiculously, "Psychological". It's none of those things.
Basically, it's a guro hentai manga without any sex or nudity.
Well, no, that might be a little unfair of me. I have read guro henti mangas with better story, characters and art.

The manga tries to handle a difficult subject right off the bad - domestic abuse. Of course, it fails to do so in any meaningful way, and uses domestic abuse just for shock value, and as a plot device. The father who abused the main characters is not presented as a complete person, but just as a psychopath, plain and simple, which is the easiest way out when you don't actually want to deal with the implications of domestic abuse.
So, the domestic abuse is used as a reason for the main character being so protective of his sister.

Oh, and his protectiveness clearly veers into incest territory. Of course, this is never addressed, and it's played for comedy/fetish, to the point where he even enjoys her eating his flesh. Now, I would have no problem with this at all, if it wasn't so fetishized. I don't find that gross or disturbing, I just find it kind of...boring, and tired. Uninspired, if you will. It's just there to appeal to people who like that, and it isn't adressed in the story at all. Thus, the comparison I made before to a guro hentai manga.
Also, I have no problems with incest...when it's handled properly. But here, it isn't even addressed - it's just there. Same as all the other stuff.

All of the characters are really...flat. None of them have any sort of depth. The main two characters sure as hell don't, and the side characters(specifically the classmates of the main characters) might as well not be there, as their presence doesn't make too much of a difference.
The main character is the typical shounen protagonist - not to smart, but full of determination and will - that's rather bad, but I've seen worse.
His siter is...well, the stereotypical little sister, that clings to her brother, depends on him for everything, and can't live without him...so, a character made for little-sister fetishists, basically.
The other characters are not even worth mentioning. I already did mention their father, who is just a psychopath and nothing else, really.

I usually dont' care much for the art, but since this is supposed to be a "horror" manga, I do have to mention it.
In short, it's rather bad. The majority of doujins I have seen have better art. The majority of the aforementioned guro hentai mangas have better art.
The gory scenes are, well, ok for what they are though. I have seen better, but if you like gore, you will probably find them to be fine, at best. But there's no horror here, just a lot of gore.

In conclusion...this is pretty weak manga. It's got gore, if you like that. It's got some little-sister/incest fetishism, and guro fetishism, if you're into that. But, that's about it. I would even say that reading a guro hentai manga might actually be better than reading Pupa, because at least you can masturbate to those. They might even have a better story and characters. In fact, they probably do.

Gakuto no Vector review
This is a manga that doesn't really seem to go anywhere. I feel that it set up a premise of being related to philosophy, and applying that to various situations to slowly reveal what the club is about and that being profound in some way. But that never happens. And at the end the mystery of what the club is gets resolved through a simple explanation, which I didn't even feel was an adequate explanation. Rather, the manga ends up doing a bunch of random things that don't seem to have anything connecting them and ultimately there doesn't seem like there's much point at all. Some of these events are amusing and there are some solid jokes, but nothing that has any impact ever happens. There is no development whatsoever in terms characters, relationships, or plot. The characters seem interesting enough, or at least seem to have an outline of being interesting enough, but they aren't fleshed out at all. Relationships similarly seem like there's potential to be interesting, but there really isn't enough progress beyond some superficial aspects, with the ending especially being rather unsatisfying in that regard. The art was decent but there wasn't much variety with everything mostly looking the same and there not being many especially good-looking shots. The chapter covers were especially lacking.

A manga that has superficially interesting elements, but largely doesn't seem to have much of a point.

SHIN DEVILMAN review
When you're creating a sequel to a previous work that has "New" or "Shin" in the title, you're normally setting a high bar for yourself. Shin Megami Tensei spawned a fantastic franchise that completely eclipsed its first few Megami Tensei games. New Super Mario Bros rejuvenated Mario's side-scrolling series and sold 30 million copies, and spawned a ton of sequels. There's probably some more examples but I don't feel like recalling them.

But then there's Shin Devilman. The title may suggest something like a reboot, or a re-imagining, or a sequel. But instead of vastly expanding the Devilman universe, Shin Devilman goes for a more scaled-back approach. It confines itself to taking place in between volumes 2 & 3 of the original series.

The basic premise is that Akira and Ryo keep jumping around to various periods in time to defeat some demons trying to alter history. Although there's still blood and dismemberment, the whole thing feels a bit more lighthearted then the original Devilman manga. There's even a little bit of homoeroticism squeezed in, which is always a nice touch. Each chapter has its own little exposition, climax, and conclusion, and it all happens in a span of 36 pages for each one.

If you weren't satisfied with how the Devilman manga ended, then Shin Devilman's got you covered. The last chapter features an alternate take on the ending, for what that's worth.

So overall, Shin Devilman isn't groundbreaking in any way, shape, or form, but it's a short spinoff that plays it very safe. The whole thing's only 5 chapters, so in the time it took you to read this review, you could have finished a chapter. If you're hungering for more Devilman, you could do much worse then this.

Splatoon review
Okay, before we start:

Are there going to be spoilers?

- Yes, but it doesn't really matter.

Why am i making this review?

- Cause i want to and nobody makes one about it.

Why am i reading this?

- Because i love Splatoon.

And how is "i think" the Manga?

- Well...

Let's find out!

Story: 6

Splatoon has a pretty nice Story Mode and a nice DLC so is the Manga an Adaptation or does it try something different?

Well it's kinda both...

The Story feels mostly random and they just bring in things of the Videogame randomly when the writers feel like it. My Problem with the Story is that it's uninspired and so comedic.
I know it's for little Children but imagine if this would have been at least as serious as in the Videogame. Because i think it would have been awesome and would've gotten way more attention.

Art: 7

The Art is mostly actually really good. There's nothing really to say about it then that.

Characters: 2

The Story is not the best... executed...
but the characters are even worse.

Goggles: He's just annoying and dumb.

Knitcap: She's mostly as dumb as Goggles... but i think she's not as annoying, but maybe that is because the Manga mostly forgets about her.

Headphones: I actually think she's the best Character of the Manga. She gets here and there angry how dumb everyone else is and goes all Tsundere. But her Tsundere side isn't actually annoying. It's actually fun for me seeing her getting angry at them which makes me see that she's the smartest Person of the Group. In the first Volume it's already shown that she has the best Rank from all four. And there's even a bonus chapter in Volume 6 where her Character Motivation is explored. The bonus Chapter is only 6 pages long and it's my favorite Chapter because a Character is actually a little tiny bit explored.

Brillo: Brillo is basically the smart guy... but all he does is point out how dumb Goggles is. Which makes him seen like he's unimportant. He's the one who gets from the Main Characters the least amount of character exploration ( Or what you can at least could call a tiny hint at Character Exploration ).

Bonus Chapters: So this is something rather unimportant but i wanted to point out that the bonus chapters feel like they could fit into the main story... like the one with Headphones is one who would've not only fit better but would've made more sense if the scene would be shown while the main story rather than when the scene it was supposed to play in ( after the Tournament in Inkopolis Plaza ).

Enjoyment: My enjoyment was actually pretty high. But if the Story would take serious turn and the characters wouldn't be just plain stereotypes without emotions but actual "CHARACTERS" this could've been way better. The writers could have made something serious and still could've brought a message into it. But then again it's Splatoon and for kids... so who cares about that except me of course.

Overall: It's mediocre. You can read and enjoy it. But only because you enjoy something doesn't always mean it's good. For what it wants to be it's good... but then again i'm thinking about what could've been as great as the videogame.
