Resumen
Riding the bus one day, Sakurakouji Sakura looks out the window to see people being burned alive with a blue fire and a boy her age who's unharmed and standing over the people. She comes back to the site the next day and there are no corpses or evidence of any kind of murder, just a small fire. She then goes to class to find there's a new transfer student, Oogami Rei, who looks exactly like the boy she saw before and wears a black glove only on his left hand. Oogami is a Code Breaker, one who "does not exist." He is a seemingly cold-blooded killer who follows the principle of "an eye for an eye," to "use evil against evil." Convinced that killing is not right, Sakurakouji sets out to stop him and penetrate his icy heart.

Okay here goes nothing. The character with the exception of one, are all likeable. The male lead isn't your typical annoying weak/good goody character. He's constantly killing people which is a plus for me. The character in this manga all have some sort of "ability". Control fire, magnetism, electricity and so forth which you would think makes for some pretty decent fights, but not really. All the fights go one or the other. The lead either completely dominates or completely gets dominated. There is no middle ground, making most of the fight scenes pretty boring. As for the story, well it's not terrible but it
certainly isn't great either. And finally the reason I hated this manga...the female lead. Just about every other page she is preaching on and on..."You shouldn't kill people, you should be good guy and do the right thing.." If she isn't preaching about that then she is interfering wit all the fights in order to save the bad guy. She will hug serial killers and terrorists and tell them to stop being evil...Now if that wasn't enough what really gets me is that they actually listen to her...In conclusion, as long as you can put up with the most annoying female lead in history, then Code Breaker is an alright manga. What I call a "time passer". Nothing special, not really that great but if your just looking to pass some time till you find a better manga then it's alright.

Story: There have always been people and there always will be people that will evade laws and slip past justice after committing a crime. For people that have committed serious crimes and escaped unscathed, there is an organization of code breakers to dispose of them. The manga brings up many philosophical ideas of crime and punishment especially of the death penalty and the "can people really change?" debate. Although a very interesting plot at first, I can only give the story an 8 because it is very repetitive and does not present any big plot twists or enough suspenseful moments. I must have heard the
saying "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth" at least once every chapter.
Art: Nothing special. Could see what was going on in the battles and the characters are pretty well drawn. (9) Character: The development of the characters is very drawn out in the series. It teaches you little by little about each code breaker and their reasons for fighting. The main character of the story doesn't seem to have much of a personality except for a save everyone even if he is evil attitude. However, the main code breaker makes up for this with his mysterious often contradicting ideology that I still can't figure. Enjoyment: I loved the action scenes. Each code breaker's power makes sense (which is a plus! well... sometimes its a stretch, but almost!) and is just plain badass. When compared to other strictly action shounen mangas, this definitely comes on top. (10) Overall: You can probably compare this manga to D.Gray Man, Naruto, and Bleach in its ability to bring you into action filled battle mangas. I give this an overall 9. |

This is the story of a guy who judges criminals by his own set of morale principles through a secret government shadow organization. He kills criminals mercilessly and probably in the most painful manner possible.
Quick facts - Its not gory -Its mainstream -its based around a secret government organization -there are super powers -its high action plotline is about the ethics of killing criminals (how far should law enforcement go in punishing criminals). Basically the story is saying "What would it be like if the victim was put first in every situation?" Is this a world you would want to live in? It also argues the other side as well, theres a second main character who argues that no one should be killed and when she does this, it blows up in her face every time. If anyone is fed up with all of the manga which has some dumbass kid saying killing is wrong under any circumstance no matter how many lives are at stake, then this manga is for you. I can't tell you how relieved I am reading this after reading something like The Breaker where killing is strictly forbidden by one annoying character. The story isn't too deep really. They start out with pretty much everything explained fairly well so the story can end at any time. Theres no great mysteries given at the start of the manga which are slowly revealed as the plot moves forward, but its a solid story with evolving characters and evolving powers. Overall, I gave it a 9 because it is one of the great mainstream mangas. |

If you ever want to start a drinking game with your buddies and don't know about what, - Just let everyone read this manga.(get copies for everyone and start with chapter one) fill up on ~2 bottles of 40% wodka and start the game.
Everytime the female MC makes anything stupid, does make you sigh, makes you or your buddies want to bang the head against a wall or makes you or your buddies to wish she gets killed at that scene take a shot. I am rather sure you wont get further than chapter 12. That's the most we ever got before getting completly drunk. Honestly now, - It's bad it's so bad that you have a female MC which kinda represents everything which is wrong about shounen but only 1000000% worse. A bad guy who kinda killed ~70 adults and children just to get their organs to sell it via black market to rich ppl, - a momemnt before the male mc tries to kill him the female mc jumps in to rescue him(the organ selling bad guy) because he's not a bad guy at all because he has a daughter... and that redeems everything. Yeah and that's kinda the logic/plot overall the female mc tries to stop the male mc murdering all kind of over the top evil bad ppl. Even trained mercs with top notch gear, - while the plot armor protects her from everything when acting stupid af and convince everyone with the power of hugs/love. If you thought Fairy Tail was over the top just read this manga. And tbh just make a drinking game out of it, it's 100% worth it and I bet no sane person can take it further than chapter ~15. |

i came across the manga on this web site as i was looking for something good to read and i read the review, and it sounded like everything i wanted in a manga, bad ass character's, teens, superpowers, with some romance on the side. sounded good, so i had high hopes for this manga and well it didint disappoint me in the least and it was even better than i thought i would be, also it got lots of chapter and this summer in 2012 it may turned into a anime so i have high hopes, its going to be one of the next naruto,
bleach and one piece.(hopefully)
story 9 the story is fantastic, it develops and such a good pace, and the way it develops is great, lots of twists and turns, power ups, betrayal. each main character have there own goal and thats the reason they joined the organisation and they will do anything to achieve there goals. art 8 the personally loved the art, it looks fantastic and it seems to get better and better as it goes on, the art work really shines in the later battle's that get out of control. i guess you could compare it to 'the breaker' but better, characters 10 the character's in this manga would be the strongest point in this manga, each character makes amazing development through out the manga. the main character makes the most development he pretty much turns into a new man kinda, the other main character the girl, to be honest at the start of the manga she was really annoying always getting the way of the other main charcter. but as the manga progresses she stops doing that less and less what is good. enjoyment 9 i enjoyed this manga from start to up to what ever chapter the latest chapter. nothing about this manga bored me in the slightest, i enjoyed every chapter i actually read it for 2 days straight till i read every chapter overall 9 i suggest this manga to anyone who like good story with bad ass main characters, with mystery backgrounds, and amazing fights. |

This manga is mostly about a girl that meets a boy that kills for a living. She has a strong sense of judgment so she doesn't want him to kill anyone anymore. As the story goes on several other killers that work in the same kind of "company" as him appear and they all become friends. She learns more about Ogami (the boy) and all about his situation that he's in. She tries to help him. In the more recent chapters, it is about how their friendship is tested when the other killers go out and try to kill Ogami.
Overall, its just about a girl helping a boy and lots of killing and friendship in between. I really like this manga so I think you should defenitly read it once you get the chance! But I am going to warn you now, this manga can get complicated and seem like its making no sense at all but that's just how its written. So I hope you read and like this manga!! |

What a brilliant and beautiful story, oh my goodness. I'm gonna do my best here to actually review it instead of just sobbing through my keyboard, so here I go.
My favorite aspect of this manga is the fact that each and every main character has a rich backstory without the entire story becoming too convoluted. Because of that, the pacing was also really well done. Each character's past came out at exactly the right time, and it was written beautifully. The art was great as well, and I really got a feel for how the scenes were playing out-- namely the action scenes. Also, the humor was conveyed very well. I found the manga to be quite funny, though it was also very good during its intense parts as well. The main attraction, though, is the romance in this story. It's so, so beautiful. The pacing of this specific part of the story was phenomenal. It didn't happen too quickly, it didn't end like you expected, and it was realistic throughout. The romance actually really benefited that characters' development as well, which isn't that common a find. All in all, a really great manga. I would 100% come back to it again in the future. Also, if you want to know if it measures up to the anime, it so clearly surpasses it. Not that the anime is a waste of time, but I'm so glad I decided to experience the manga, too. This will remain one of my favorites for a long time. |
