One day in school, he meets Akine Ritsuko, a hotheaded novice violinist who wants to enroll in a high school with a distinguished orchestra club. When he finds himself getting closer to Ritsuko and being brought back to the world of violinists, time starts moving again for him.
This is the beginning of a youthful drama where sounds and hearts alike resound in harmony.

Ao no Orchestra review
This is the first review I've ever done, and I think it should be for an underrated manga like this one.
SPOILER FREE! Summary: Ao no Orchestra, also known as The Blue Orchestra, is a manga about a boy named Aono Hajime, who previously stopped playing the violin, starts it once again he is told to teach a girl named Ritsuko Akine. She inspires him to start the violin again, and together they both join the orchestra club in highschool. In the club, a prodigy named Saeki Nao bumps heads with Aono, and that starts a rivarly between the two. A manga full of slice of life, drama and music. Story: 7/10 I gave this a 7. At first, there is nothing big happening until they met a character named Saeki Nao. As you read more and more, you'll find yourself awed by the plot. In the recent translated chapters, there is a lot of drama going down. Art: 7/10 There honestly isn't anything eyecatching in the art. It's very mediocre. However, at times, the artstyle is intense. There were some panels that completed awed me and gave me goosebumps. Also, since this manga is revolved around music, it's quite difficult to imagine yourself with the instruments, but the art does a wonderful job of capturing how a school orchestra feels, this is said by a orchestra student. Characters: 6/10 Honestly, there is nothing special about most of the characters. They are written like actual, normal high school students. It's not a bad thing, since it helps you really relate to the characters. But there isn't any eyecatching characters or any that you will remember from heart. Enjoyment: 7/10 Obviously this will differ for everyone, but on my first read I was completely awed by every chapter, partly because I've never read a music manga, only have watched. As a slice of life, you will be able to regular high schoolers being regular high schoolers. Akine's growth as a violinist, slowly but surely, is something that makes you feel like your baby bird is growing up. Aono eventually coming out of his shell is something there too. Something about Ao no Orchestra feels so realistic. Something that you can relate to. I enjoyed reading it, and I get excited whenever I see a new translation being released. Overall: 7/10 Would I tell you to read it? Yes, espeically if you are a fan of music or slice of life. It may feel boring as first, but eventually it will warm up to you and you'll be waiting for more and more. (Sorry for any spelling or grammar errors!) |
Ao no Orchestra review
this is my first review oop-
If you liked "Your lie in April" you would probably like this one as well. The story is itself is beautiful, about a prodigy violinist who once quit who finds himself entering the world of orchestra. It has the right amount of drama and heartwarming moments. the friendship of the characters is definitely beautiful as well as the rivalry between them. The story it can be boring for others since its mainly focused on the characters' development and them realizing what it means to harmonize. The plot twist in vol. 4 was also quite something and it felt too much and forced. the characters are really lovable and you just wanna cheer them on or give them a hug especially Aono. as for the art, its absolutely amazing and beautiful, you can really see the intensity of their music. you should give this |
Ao no Orchestra review
Out of all the music genre manga, Ao no Orchestra is one of the best I have read so far.
Ao no Orchestra is a story that revolves around the main character, Aono who is a violinist prodigy. However, due to family circumstances, he quits playing the violin. Aono meets Akine who reignites his passion for music and violin. Both join a high school orchestra where they display their talents and hard work. As you continue to read, the drama just gets better. The story's drama and music makes the manga more amazing. The story is written with a good pace and is not rushed. Each chapter is entertaining and well written. It makes you want to hear the music (if it ever gets an anime). Many, if not, all the characters are likable. It's not like your lie in april. Only the musical aspect but other than that, its completely different. Overall: 9/10 |
Ao no Orchestra review
At the first 5 or 7 chapter I feel that this manga is just "meh." I mean I thought that this will be a "Your lie in April" wannabe you know some emo musicians, but it surprise me that it took a different course. It is like when you read sports manga and you were glad that it focuses more on sports rather than romance, this is what I'm feeling! Plus the characters, although some of them starts to be like a weak character(I mean their appeal), they all grow. So far the 21 chapters have build enough. The art is good and damn! If
you like manga that is all about "Passion" this is a very good read. For me it's a 8 out of 10.

Ao no Orchestra review
This manga is fine, but it is not propulsive dramatically. we don't know well what motivates the mc, he kind of just goes with the flow of the story. he does not make decisions, so the story just passes by. there is nothing major to resolve, so it just goes forward, burning through so many setups with no real development or payoff.
The art is fine, i wish the writing allowed for more expressive scenes, there is talent in the art side that i'd want to see expanded upon. Overall, this manga is fine. not the worst read, but it just seems like there are many squandered opportunities to develop the story more in a propulsive manner, where the mc makes decisions and instead of the story just moving forward inconsequentially. |
