Momiji no Kisetsu review
Momiji no Kisetsu will be the first of many Shonen Jump series I plan on reviewing, many of these won't be a full review of the series due to their translation being limited this time being no exception but I will try my best to write a review from the little I have read.

Story: 5/10
As far as I have read there was a clear goal in our lead character Momiji trying to reach the title of "Dragon King" a very high position in the world of Shogi. As a shounen a large goal like this is generally a good thing and there is enough emphasis on this coupled with Momiji's Brother who also seeked the title that the story is propelled forward at a good pace. The training and growth Momiji undergoes early is good, it's not focused on too much but enough that there is a believable amount of growth. All in all it feels like Shogi in Shounen manga form which is a great thing, the downside's being that Shogi isn't the most engaging thing in the world, if it had more time to flourish I think the story may have improved significantly.

Art: 8/10
I really like the art, the characters have designs that are unique but not too crazy which suits what it's trying to cover, facial expressions are really good and help convey a wide array of emotions, my gripes with the characters are that sometimes their eyes and hands don't look quite right.
For a manga about Shogi it's surprisingly easy to read likely due to the panel layout being really good. I had a lot of fun reading it which leads into how it presents Shogi, the way pieces are thrust onto the board feels like an actual battle, it really digs into the Shounen aspects of presenting manga and it greatly benefits for it, some of the more action oriented panels look amazing! One final thing i'd like to talk about on it's art is the few times I saw pages with no text whatsoever but you can still tell what the characters may be thinking or feeling, these made me really happy to see as I think it's a really cool way to mix up how a manga is read but props to the author for presenting such a complex game in a very simple manner.

Character: 7/10
For three chapters I felt pretty invested in our two main characters, both have their quirks and are interesting enough from the very beginning, but I was very surprised with how quickly we got to see the reasons behind there motivations which are told in a clear and relatable way, and as much as Momiji's brother is used to further the story and the characters progression he himself is characterized quite a bit without him even being present, this along with the fact that the author hasn't spread himself thin on too many characters gives a sense that the small amount of characters that we do have are well fleshed out and likable before anymore are added.

Conlusion:
I was skeptical before I started as I had never heard a thing about this series other than it was axed which is a shame since I underestimated it only to find that I really like it, it nailed what a shounen series should be in my opinion, good motivations, characters and subject matter, with no access to translated chapters I can't say why it failed but either way it's a shame it had to end with only 16 chapters, compared to the currently publishing "Double Taisei" in Weekly Shonen Jump this series is much better, and it might just be that Shogi doesn't do well in WSJ.

FINAL SCORE: 7/10 - Good

Tenkuu no Escaflowne review
Let's make one thing clear right now: I absolutely ADORE the "Escaflowne" anime. I rated it a 10/10. This will influence my review. Not that it matters anyway; as a stand-alone this manga is boring and useless, and in the context of the original TV series, it's even worse. It's a monstrosity. It's not even the same story anymore. It's some generic crap with "Escaflowne" slapped on the cover. It's a bad joke.

That being said, what the HELL IS THIS?

I was excited when I heard that the "Escaflowne" manga was going to be brought to the United States. Hey, the anime was good, and I had read some awesome manga that came post-anime ("Evangelion" comes to mind), and you can't have too much of a good thing, right?

That's a moot question anyway. This manga isn't a good thing. It just... sucks.

In the first place, the characters lost their... character. They've gone from beautifully-nuanced individuals to walking stereotypes of shounen-genre robot anime. And the character designs themselves have gone to hell. They're bad. They're boring. They're stereotypical. The story is now some stock lost-prince-reclaims-his-throne garbage, and Escaflowne is just another Most Powerful Mecha(R). The manga does not play up stereotypes for fun and parody as some series do. The manga just has them... and kills them. That's it.

If you enjoyed the "Escaflowne" manga, stay the hell away from this. It will just make your blood boil. If you enjoy robot manga, read something else instead. If you enjoy fantasy manga, read something else instead. If you enjoy shounen manga... you get the point. This isn't worth your time.

Ultimate Antihero review
First of all -the plot: The world was threatened by the demon king typhon. On the edge of annhilation of the human kind the world was saved by the fiend summoner Homura who was branded as traitor afterwards because of his ability (as the name implies) to summon demons. The world unification administration was founded to fight the remaining demons. Five years later Homura returns to his homeland japan and is asked to join the new tokyo magic academy and to observe and support the students in their fight against the demons.
What can be said to this manga- well it belongs to the harem/ecchi genre. The plot is quite stereotype- nothing you haven’t read before so don’t expect to be overtaken by it. The manga lives from the numerous attractive girls and from „mister cool“–the main character Homura. Homura is not only totally cool but also totally overpowered which leads to rather short and boring fights. To reinforce further clichés the mighty Homura is quiet lonely- how sad or put it another way: *yawn*. Needless to say that everybody falls more or less in love with him- well as I mentioned its harem. Most of the characters aren’t really interesting but rather superficial -ok, there are just 8 chapters and it’s quite hard to build up a complex character in such a short time but some one shots have greater character development as this manga. I haven’t read the light novel so I can’t comment on the further development.
But this manga is easy to read especially because there is no need to think about a possible hidden meaning of the things said or done.
If you have too much time to spare and you like ecchi- feel free to read "ultimate antihero"

Byakuya Zoushi review
Story:
Byakuya Zaushi is comprised of 5 stories; the first 4 are rather short horror stories, but the final story is pretty long and revolves around a girl whose tribe and brother were killed by Tibaria, a country trying to expand its domain. The brother's dying words are those of a pure white angel of death. The girl, named Jildora, decides she will find her brother's killer.

The first four horror stories are rather good. I really liked how the endings were open ended (except for the second story); it added another layer of creepiness to the stories. The stories in themselves were not very creepy, but I liked the supernatural aspects of them (they deal with oni, living spirits, death, and curses in this order).

However, the last story doesn't seem to fit. It isn't a horror tale at all and the story telling is quite different from the previous stories. It isn't horrible, but it was rather strange to have a love story in a collection of horror tales having nothing to do with love. The story itself was nothing special as well, which makes me come to the conclusion that the author decided to add a earlier one-shot she wrote into the mix. I feel this is a very bad idea because the mood of the first four and this last one is drastically different, which is why I gave Byakuya a 6 instead of a 7.

Art:
Very beautiful and slender art, and I really liked the eyes for some reason (but this is a personal preference). Again there is a vast discrepancy between the art in the first four horror stories and the last story. This leads me to believe that the author really did include an older work of hers. The last story's art is closer to mainstream than the other four. I prefer the art in the four short stories because of it's very distinct eyes and overall beautiful aesthetics.

Characters:
Beings a one-shot comprised of 5 unique stories, the characters don't get much time to develop. Still you can get an overall feel for them, especially in the last story. The characters didn't much interest me, especially those from the last story, which was typical shoujo fare.

Conclusion:
As you can probably tell, I'm not very fond of the last story in this collection. Not only did it throw the manga's overall dark feel off, but it was very bland. The beginning shows a lot of promise (girl wants to get revenge for her brother's death) but it soon devolves into a stereotypical fairytale. Prince Charming saving girl and girl falling for prince charming, ect ect. (there are a few twists and turns, but they are so obvious that it's painful).

Overall, I recommend anyone, who is in the mood for some not so scary horror to check out the first 4 stories. They are quite good and will most likely keep you entertained. I recommend opting out of the last story, unless your in the mood to finish off with some dreamy shoujo. Byakuya lost a point for this last story; I really did not enjoy the change of genres and feel and it left a sour taste in my mouth.

I personally enjoyed this series for how short it is. I started reading this thinking it was a romcom, then assumed it was a joke manga. However, the unexpected conclusion and the story that lead up to it is truly worth the read. I am amazed how attached I got to some of these characters despite the manga's wackiness.

Story: 7
The story is based around our main character Yuu who has one mission: to find a way to fix his mother who is in a deformed vegetative state. But luckily for him, he awakens the ability to "time slip" where he can temporarily go back to the past and potentially change his mother's fate.

While the premise is somewhat interesting, the plot seems to be going nowhere to for the majority of the series. It's just our main character, Yuu running around messing with people while trying to stalk his younger mom. But as the story goes on, these events lead to something peculiar, which changed the present in ways Yuu did not intend. While changes are minimal, these changes lead to a stunning conclusion.

Art: 6
The character designs to be cute and sometimes has fan service, particularly when it comes to Hanada. The character's are fairly expressive, but it does not particularly stand out compared to other works. Nothing much to be said here.

Characters: 8
Yuu: He does not change much for the majority of the series. Despite being the main character, he serves more as a comic relief. He can be seen as annoying sometimes thanks to his bombastic and somewhat distorted character, but the effects it leaves can be heartwarming at times.

Hanada: She can be seen as the secondary protagonist. She is first introduced as a mature, bossy person, but is quickly reduced to a somewhat pitiful character. Hanada is the character that has received most character development throughout the series and you can't help but love this tsundere girl.

Touko: Yuu's mother is not a heavy focus despite the premise. While she is an important character, she simply serves as Yuu's motivation. Also her deformed self has no character.
