Vagabond review
Vagabond has its moments of greatness, but is ultimately a frustrating manga because of its inconsistent and stagnant characters, as well as pacing problems in the last 1/3. While it has the potential to be a masterpiece, it never reaches that level.

The story of Vagabond is simple, following the (stylized retelling) life of famous historic samurai Miyamoto Musashi, and later also his arch-rival Sasaki Kojiro. The art is amazing, one of the best in all manga. The worldbuilding, helped by the gorgeous art, is also immersive, as you really feel like you’re in samurai era Japan with a cast of individuals who are historically realistic.

If you like reading manga with lots of gore and fighting or just a badass main character, then Vagabond is perfect for you, since that’s where it shines. But, it also tries to do more, exploring the motivation for why various characters dedicate their life to becoming stronger. In the first half this is done very well. We see sword fighting portrayed as an art form whose meaning is given by the fact that its practitioners put their lives on the line. We also see Musashi confronted by characters who question his callousness towards taking life, and his own struggle with what it means to be the strongest.

My main problem with Vagabond is that it goes nowhere with these themes and they eventually become repetitive. Furthermore, Inoue tries hard to give Musashi a soft/philosophical side, but doesn’t reconcile this with the fact that, well, he doesn’t value human life. You can’t realistically have empathy if you also kill people without a second thought, and the fact that you like carving wood statues doesn’t change my mind.

The side characters, other than Matahachi who is very amusing, are two dimensional. The “romance” is pretty bad, as it consists solely of sexual tension with a useless love interest.

The plot varies in quality. Several earlier arcs are extremely good (Inshun, Yoshioka, Kojiro growing up), to the point where if the manga only had those parts it would be 10/10, but it starts to really go downhill around chapter 260. The first 2/3 is definitely worth a read, and it’s a shame that the manga is on hiatus as the current arc seems like it will be good.

Overall, I found Vagabond to be interesting enough to hook me, but rather frustrating because of the mix of good and bad qualities.

Kamio Yui wa Kami wo Yui review
To be honest, I'm not one to make reviews too often as they become too redundant to do. I usually make reviews for good watches, but this time is different.

Story 4: The beginning will definitely grab your attention. It did a great job, although there were some messy bits in there. This placed my hopes high, and those expectations were met; Until after the major arc. I was flabbergasted. It felt like the author threw an unnecessary curveball out of nowhere. Also, I hate how the sub-characters are no help what-so-ever into helping the main character in the final fights for each arc. Like, they are there just to guide the main character to the final boss. As I kept watching, it just began to feel repetitive. The "fight" scenes were not that satisfying at all and it didn't grab my attention. The ending was where it began to become very messy. To be honest, it felt the author just didn't care anymore and just rushed two possible stand-alone arcs into one volume. Also, there are no recovering arcs after the main fights. The main character and sub-characters just miraculously heal and go to the next arc. Going back to the ending, it felt way too rushed. To a point that it's probably even worst than having to wait for the next chapter to release in a middle of a fight for shounen jumps.

Art 7: The art is so-so. It's fluent and not fluent at times. I could handle when it got messy when I first began reading it, but for each volume of the manga, the art got messier and messier. It didn't get to a point where it was just scribbles, but I would get confused on who's who. But that may just be because of the sub-characters lack of personality. When I say this, I mean the character designs. We can easily detect important characters, but when the characters show up in one volume, they start to all look the same. Also, the panels can get a bit messy. Like in between a fight, there begins a past memory at the worst time possible. The character that we are diving into doesn't even bring it up to the main character, it's just for us to understand. I don't know, it just seems too random. Usually, they will begin explaining in the middle or start thinking as to how they got there, but nope.

Character 6: The designs for the main characters are good. They pop art and can be pointed out if you're just looking at their figures. Personalities are good. Nothing worth noting there. Now going into depth with each character can be a problem. three characters were introduced for one chapter and that's it. I mean, they were the main subject of the entire chapter, and to not be shown for the rest of the manga was cruel in its own way. I mean they were shown once, but that was basically a filler chapter> The chapter was important as it introduced us to the next arc, but they weren't a part of it. More like they were a background character.

Enjoyment 4: It was enjoyable, at first. The first major arc comes and yeah it was sudden, but it was needed to keep me interested. The arc seemed to start too quickly and ended too quickly. It was quite boring after that arc to mention. The battles were redundant, there were no in-between chapters to calm down the atmosphere, the characters were introduced and were not further delved into their lives, it just began to feel uninteresting. Not to mention, after reading like twenty boring chapters, the ending was rushed. Rushed to a point that I don't even know what happened to the main villain. Just as the main fight was about to begin, they jump cut to the aftermath. No joke... I think I would have rated this manga an overall seven if it weren't for the ending.

Overall 5: Read it if you got nothing else to read. There are tons of other manga, manhwa, or manhua you can read other than this. Not to mention that I can appreciate a lot of different types of mangas and rate them better than a five.

Kemono no Joou review
As far as One-Shots go, Kemono no Joou was really great. If you want to read a moderately short story with some good plot elements and the makings of an excellent series, then this is for you. If you aren't down to feel bummed out that there won't be any more chapters of this great One-shot, then steer clear of this one.

Story-8
Alright, as far as storylines go this one was pretty great. The characters developed naturally, even though this was such a short piece. Now the story is that there are 12 entities that rule the world, and every 5 (or something) thousand years a new king is chosen out of those 12, but instead of fighting God V.S. God, Godzilla style, they use people who can actually see these gods to fight. Interesting, right? Albeit it does seem kinda dry when you get down to it, but the overall concept is pretty intriguing.

Art-9
Now, I'm no art critic, but the art style that this mangaka used was great, the characters popped, and the battle scene was fluid. Sure, there were panels where the art style felt a bit, low brow, but overall I'd have to say that the art itself was great.

Characters-8
While they did develop throughout the One-Shot, they did still feel a bit two dimensional, and a bit conflicting, in the sense that some of the actions that the main character takes conflict with how she appears early on. While that in and of itself is not a bad thing, and is in fact welcomed by me, in this One-Shot it weighed down the story a little bit, not much but just barley noticeable. Of course, that is to be expected in a One-Shot, where the characters have very little time to introduce themselves to you and create a good first impression, which Kemono no Joou was just barely able to overcome.

Enjoyment-8
Gotta say, I did enjoy reading this One-Shot. I did wish that they would have serialized it, but like most manga it was axed before it had the chance to grow wings. I definitely would have enjoyed it more if there was more, and maybe I shouldn't say that the shortness of the story lowered my enjoyment of it, but it did and there is no helping that.

Overall 8-
Again, I have to say that this One-Shot, Kemono no Joou, was pretty great. Not a 10, nor a 9, but a solid 8. I enjoyed reading it, the art was fluid, the characters weren't stellar but they were rather good, and the story had some promising elements, but was cut down in it's infancy.

Tokyo Akazukin review
I do not actually know where to begin with this one, but I will try. I felt that I had to write about this manga after finishing it a moment ago.

Due to reading a rather rough translation, most of the story content was a bit hard to pick up, but the central focus is on the titular Akazukin. A "little girl" who is trying to, well, you know the rest if you already read the synopsis. Along the way, she meets other demons and befriends them as they help her to reach her goal of being devoured by Mr. Wolf. There are humans that attempt to stop her from achieving her goal, followed by other supernatural beings later on.

Yeah, you're reading this correctly. Still based off of Little Red Riding Hood. The story is unarguably the most far-fetched interpretation of the common fairy tale that I have ever seen in my entire life. And this is coming from someone that had assumed Hoodwinked would be the most unique take on the story. Oh, how I was proven wrong.

As far as other elements go, that is just the icing on the cake. There is tons of sex, brutal gore, story, rinse and repeat. Though this was all actually composed very well as I do think highly of it. I enjoyed the unique writing as the story flowed very well from start to finish. And, yes, I actually recommend you read it. Provided, you are an adult and have already seen most of your memories ruined by this point. However, if you do not regularly visit the internet and still have a lot of your innocence left, then I want to say you should hold off on this one, especially if you enjoyed fairy tales as a kid.

Never expected this to be the first manga I would read.

AKI-SORA review
This series is not as much a story about Aki and Sora as it is a story about Sora. Aki takes not a third of prominence in this story that Sora does but definitely more than any other character. The synopsis creates the impression that it's primarily about the bond between two characters but this is not the case; it's about a character that repeatedly gets pulled into emotionally - and sexually unconventional situations by others and I might add that his frequent having sex with his older sibling is probably one of the psychologically more normal situations the character falls into.

It's very sexually explicit and one might call it pornography with a plot; it actually has some dramatic and impactful plot twists whose spoiling would ruin the experience so I won't go into that. It's however mostly about the psychological complexity of some of the characters which are oftentimes scarred mentally in some way.

The narrative structure of the strip is rather unusual: various chapters provide flashbacks and tie into the greater plot of explaining the unusual psychology of the characters, whereas other chapters are discontinuous from the story, and mostly serve as humor, or are based around the sex scenes. One might argue that it doesn't so much "have a plot" as that the world is slowly built and revealed by the author; a lot of the plot-driven chapters are very flashback-based.

Whereas Aki more so feels as a character that purely exists to have a relationship with Sora, Nami in particular feels like the hero of his own stories and received far more chapters with him as a central figure that explain his history and reasons for being so jaded. Nami is to me in many ways the highlight of the story in how complicated and unique the character and its motivations and history are.

The main character continues to find himself into various somewhat surreal sexual situations; some of these are violent rape by threat of mutilation that leave the character crying; some of which is the character being reluctantly forced into it but ending up enjoying it all the same and some of it is the character enthusiastically partaking.

Many moments of it are disturbing and many are also touching and emotionally moving.

The art style is superb and conveys the emotions really well; the author does an excellent job at drawing facial expressions to add to this as well as weather effects that properly convey the mood of this story.

It should also be noted that various chapters including the last one contain no sex scenes whatsoever and that they are still very enjoyable to read — it is really porn read for the plot.
