Vampire Game review
This was one of the manga's that got me hooked and that I just couldn't put down. There are a few questions that remain for me but I think the main and even quite a lot of side devellopments were nicely finished. Even though I do regret some of the choices the mangaka made (especially the ending) this remains an interesting and very enjoyable story... like they say: it's not about the destination but about how you get there. So if I don't count the ending this one would definitely get a 9 or even a 9.5, if I do take the ending into account...
I'm sad to say that it only gets a 7 or maybe an 8.
For everyone who only likes the scary horror hollywood-type of vampire where everything is about blood... put this away. I'm not saying that it's a lovey-dovey story but romance isn't hidden in the background. If you'd leave the romance out of this story it wouldn't be nearly as fun. The struggles they are facing are quite realistic and so are the personalities of most characters... of course there are a few exeptions but when you take a step back you realise they weren't as unrealistic as you might think at first. So anyway... it's a great story in which the action doesn't oppose the romance (or vice versa) but rather one where action and romance mingle in an interesting, enchanting and funny plot that will keep you nailed to your seat for many hours. |
Vampire Game review
I know giving a 10/10 for everything may be saying a bit much but the truth is this story is a 10/10. I have never read a manga (or book for that matter) that has been written and drawn like this one. I didn't expect much from it, I mean it didn't even have a review on this site, but once I started to read more into it I was sucked into this world that Judal created that really blew my mind.
Story 10/10 So the story starts of as a vampire curses his killer that he will be reincarnated in 100 years so that he can kill his (the killers') reincarnation. Sounds pretty dark right? Then after 100 years the vampire is back and wants revenge and who does he stumble across? Why the great granddaughter of his killer, princess Ishtar. What gets crazier is she wants to help him find her great grandfathers reincarnation and kill him!?! I won't reveal anymore but this story line only takes you through more twists and turns that make you laugh, cry, be afraid, and sympathetic more than you would expect from a manga. The world the mangaka created is similar to our own but with monsters and creatures from our imagination all that surpassed my expectations in how they really resembled our dreams and nightmares. Art 10/10 They art was beautifully drawn, having the males more beautiful then the females (for the most part) was extremely interesting and unique. Not only were the characters drawn beautifully but also their clothes and weapons were extremely unique from other mangas I've read. Character 10/10 Each charater had such a unique personality and expressions that you learned so much about them and wanted to learn more about them as if they were you new friends. The mangaka even gave each character unique facial expressions that made them feel even more like real people. The characters (even the evil ones) would grow on you and really make you want to read all the way through to make sure the characters were alright. Never had I ever read through such a long series in such a short amount of time. Enjoyment 10/10 Of course I would give this a 10/10 it is definitely one on my favourite stories and I hope by now you understand why. The story does have a bit of guy on guy action (if you know what I mean) but in this world it seems more popular and more accepting in their world then our own, but for the most part the guys and ok with either or (males or females). Which in my opinion is OK with me but beside that, I never felt the need to continue reading as much as I did, it was just so exciting and new that I had to finish reading it! Overall 10/10 A masterpiece there is no other way to describe it. So buy it or read it online if you got some free time. Trust me it's worth the read! (Believe me this is the first and only manga I've felt the need to write a review for and I've read over 100 mangas) |
Vampire Game review
I absolutely loved this! This was the very first manga I EVER picked up, but even so, I fell in love with it.
When I started reading this, it was a time when I was restricted from read Twilight (But Now I wish I never read THAT saga...). Obviously, since it had Vampire in the name, I thought it would be some crackpot vampire/human forbidden love sh*t. I read it and I thought that Ishtar was a great protagonist, so I continued with the series. And let me tell you, I had no regrets. The art is great and that's when I got an art preference for manga. The fact that Duzell, the vampire in the series, is completely a background character, I thought that Judal was something else. Sorry this is getting off topic... Vampire Game is the story of love triangles, cross-dressing, and growing up, all in the life of a princess. The fact that her best friend is a cross-dressing, transforming-into-a-cat vampire is just a plus. =) If you are in the mood for immature girls, irritated guardsmen, and a whole lot of fighting, read this! |
Vampire Game review
This manga is actually more of a high 6 for me than a 7.
The plot itself is pretty good but too much happens and while it doesn't really feel rushed, it feels condensed and some plot points were not nicely tied together in the end. The art is alright, nothing impressive but not too shabby either. The characters all have a distinct look to tell them apart from each other The biggest downfall of this manga are the characters. There were too many and I feel like the story could function the same with them removed. There are at least 4 that I can remember that could be removed and nothing would change. The guards that are totally useless. There can only be 2 princes in La Naan instead of 3 and it will still go smoothy. Lucy, Yuujel's friend was completely useless. There are probably more characters that can me removed but those are the ones I van think of off the top of my head. Not to mention the character development sucks. The only character who seems to grow as a person is Duzell. Ishtar remains unchanged, she doesnt get any more mature, she is shown as compassionate but she also seems to completely disregard her country, not taking the time to learn politics, history, or even spells. And don't even get me started on Darres. Who even is he?! The first couple of volumes he seems alright, you get to see his inner thoughts and feelings but all the later volumes pratically throws that out the window. Im just going to put it out there *SPOILER BUT NOT BECAUSE WHO DIDNT SEE IT COMING FROM A MILE AWAY* that he ends up with Ishtar. But it seems that he doesnt even really love Ishtar. It is clear that he cares for her but there are no signs of him actually feeling romantic love for her and it seems as if he only complies and accepts her because she loves him. phelios despite being a major character in this story,we learn nothing about. We do not see any of his past or thoughts or anything which would be nice because he IS a central character and without any background on him the story seems incomplete. There is not even really any scenes of Phelios and Duzell's past together though you would think there should be . we know theres a past but we dont really see or hear any of it so the whole drama they have seem pointless. |
Vampire Game review
Art: The art is nice. I loved the adorable cuteness of Duzell drawn.
The style is kinda cute. Story: The story was okay. If you like vampire, you should maybe give this manga a try. I loved the story about the vampire king the most. It really got to me. Just dont get your hopes up too much. This is a very different vampire story. Characters: The characters was okay. All their different stories. How they bond with eachother and go through different struggles and grow. The Manga series was okay. And as I stated I got very attached to the vampire king and the story about the vampire king also everything about him. |
