Soredemo Boku wa Kimi ga Suki review
The art style is fairly good. The story is quite well written although it did kinda confuse me for a little bit. The plot and development were kind of well presented, though it was a bit unchronological. Some of the story arcs definitely threw me off especially.
The characters were good for the most part. What annoyed me the most, however, was the main protagonist and his attitude and indecisive action, his decisions seem completely childish and irrational. And it's not just him, some of the other main characters also did some really odd things as well. That it had I like: "Why would you do that? Why?!" And although I would get angry at how stupid the main protagonist was from time to time, overall the story was enjoyable. The ending was definitely not to my taste, though, one could argue it was a fitting ending for the story, but to me, it felt rushed and inconclusive. In a nutshell, I have mix feelings for this manga, but it is an "okay" manga. Overall, I gave this manga a 7 out of 10. |
Soredemo Boku wa Kimi ga Suki review
Hoping reading this review helps you decide if you want to pick this one up into your list. Stumbling upon this manga and finding if its worthy of your time, you'll be the judge of that.
This manga really can deliver some the harshness of trial and error, starting to self doubt every decision you make while you are down hopelessly. Loving someone for the first time can leave a beautiful memories but sometime not all can be good and dandy. I feel that while reading this manga, captivate my curiosity and starting craving more and more, as I loose the tract of the time this lingering feeling of regrets flows through my thoughts. I feel hopelessness that swallow the main male protagonist through the whole story, that is Yuusuke. Sometime his stupidity can be annoying and his actions are questionable sometime, show you that how unexperienced he is in this kind of situation, its relatable in some sort of way. Overall I did enjoy reading the whole manga and the story is very good, its relatable. The art style is very good too, you can feel the character emotion as you read the character dialogs. So, give it a try and see it for your self. |
Soredemo Boku wa Kimi ga Suki review
When it comes to choosing a series to read, the first thing that catches my attention is the art. This manga definitely had that covered. It's art, I would say is one of the better ones I've seen. Though the main character Serizawa does not have any outstanding feature, overall the characters of this manga are well designed and attractive in their own way . This manga handles the change in Serizawa's as a person through meeting several heroines over many years.
Although I would get angry at how stupid Serizawa was from time to time, overall the story was enjoyable. The ending was not to my taste, though it feels like more and more series end in similar fashion. One could argue it was a fitting ending for the story, but to me it felt like it was rushed to end early. Maybe it got the ax? Who knows. I would say give this manga a go, it's definitely worth while. However, if you don't like the open ending, stay away from it. |
Soredemo Boku wa Kimi ga Suki review
The art is fine. Sometimes it's beautiful.
The main character is incredibly engaging. Some of the heroines are fleshed out well, some are one dimensional, all are run over by the plot. The enjoyment is a roller coaster of emotions that feels like it's building up to an incredible payoff. Instead you get kicked right in the balls. I can't believe it ended like that. Slight spoilers ahead: This is an omnibus story that goes through a bunch of relationships in order. I don't understand why the girl the manga spent the longest time on acted the way she did once she started dating him. Her personality completely flipped. I can only weakly assume that she got bashful about realizing that they were dating so she stopped the playful banter and was too embarrassed to show any intimacy. But that's completely different from her character, unexplained, and doesn't really fit with the information we get after the fact. Although I can forgive a lot of that because the point of the manga is that you can't know why people act the way they do. It's still jarring to have that moral delivered in such a heavy handed way by dismantling a perfectly good character. Especially after his high school girlfriend had the same arc but shorter and actually justified. The "mysterious girl" premise of the manga is a total red herring and an excuse to flashback though the guy's whole life story. Although that sounds like a clever and engaging story element, it has mediocre execution. He does the same thing to the girl on the phone that he did to the girl at the Ramen shop even though she chewed him out so much about it. Although even that was just a variation of the same mistake the main character repeats every arc. The main character drives himself into a corner repeatedly for over half his life in a deeply gripping, believable, and emotional way. This manga is so absolutely fantastic in this regard that I can forgive everything else about the characters and the plot. It doesn't hurt the portrayal of this deeply flawed MC that he continues to make almost exactly the same mistake over and over again. You've spent 7 volumes with this guy hoping to finally see him grow and be happy. He never changes from this self destructive behavior until the very last chapter, which is split into two parts and a hundred pages. We get one panel of that (maybe) paying off. I have never been so utterly disgusted by anything in my life. |
Soredemo Boku wa Kimi ga Suki review
(slight spoilers - nonspecific):
When you first pick up this manga you find yourself rooting for MC, his decisions seem completely childish and irrational but then again - it makes you question yourself: "Would I have done that?" While this manga has great art that depicts almost every female character as a bishoujo of sorts, you have to remind yourself that she is only average. Eventually, the story moves on and you find MC in extremely tough situations - being lead on, misinterpreting intentions, etc. You will definitely start to sympathize with his predicaments. Soon, you start to realize that MC never grew out of his mindset of indecisiveness and childishness from earlier on in the manga and it will really starts to piss you off. Of course, your emotions will be suppressed because you will be reading the best arc - Makino Tsukuchi Arc - maybe it's just me, but I truly empathized with MC despite knowing full well he's crashing and burning. It was exceptionally well written. As the chapters continue, you find yourself reading just for the sake of knowing what the ending will be, because you're halfway through already and probably know exactly which girl you want "her" to be. MC will still not grow out of his persona and you'll have to deal with it and he applies it into his working life - at this point the manga drops a little in quality but not without reason as his life, was also going downhill by that point. In the mid-late chapters, you'll find MC in more relatable positions: seemingly unsuccessful job searches, dealing with a failing relationship, etc. Your heart will hurt a little as you read on. By the last arc, you realize that the story goes to shit and honestly, if it wasn't for the entirety of this arc and a better ending, I would've given in a 10/10 in a heartbeat. The only plot-device here was: learning how to reject someone and sex. Throughout the entire series, MC was never a shallow person (with the exception of one chapter, after which he immediately recovered because he felt shallow himself). Yet in this arc, the story combines both the personality of a high-school girl and a high-school boy. Like what the fuck why would you ruin this top-tier manga at the very end? The ending was honestly gibberish with zero realism. I which I could continue rambling without spoiling but it's quite difficult. // TL;DR: Story got ruined at the end, otherwise superb read. //Read this part after you complete the manga, contains spoilers. Personally, I think Makino Tsukuchi should've been the person he ended up with - not Sam-soon. Sam-soon straight up abandoned him at his most difficult point in life, though with reason, for her ex. Her persona was also not elaborated much on apart from the fact that she was pretty and could get any person she wanted until she got dumped, after which she went for a sugar daddy. If you want a better ending, imagine this: Makino's sister and his friend meet MC, they tell him about her sister's life post-MC. He goes on feeling down about not knowing her true feelings then as he walks home. She shows up wherever he lives to his surprise and hugs him. Makino tells him she's been looking for him. MC, who just found out about her post-MC life, tells her about his own life and that he regretted not loving her but he is still happy for her. Makino is dumbfounded by what MC meant when he said she was married, only then, MC realizes her sister and his friend had pranked him to rile up his past emotions. Makino then asks if what he said about regretting not loving her is true - to which he smiles and kisses her. Then it can end there or a post-marriage epilogue, whatever but man why they gotta ruin the ending, making him go back for a thot. |
Soredemo Boku wa Kimi ga Suki review
Serizawa got through puberty to adulthood and bumped against decisions and problems along the way that were somewhat quite difficult to resolve or didn't even have a solution at all. This reflects a lot of the difficulties we all have went through, maybe not it the same way as the protagonist but something in the same area.
To not decide things properly and try not hurt others may go in a different way that you expected. Like some girls told Serizawa that he was selfish and just thinks of himself, he lied just to not get in trouble and did indeed being selfish against others. What I saw so special about this manga was that I managed to see and feel the grow of Serizawa thoughts about what to do in certain situations and seeing him go around his way forward without tripping on the edges knowing what he have done in the past. Taking decisions with the unexpected outcome and realising about it after is one thing that gave me a strange feel that got me realise some situations I gent through. Getting to the point I felt like my past was reflecting on the protagonist life (not the same way he got it but in a similar way) and got me realise a couple of things that not only did me feel bad but kind of got me accepting them. For the story I really liked the grow of the characters and how the rest was build up. Maybe it should be better to know what happened to the other characters and their futures? Well im just curious. 8/10 The art was the first thing that hook me up with the manga, I really don't have any complains about it really. Didn't got uncomfortable by it like some other mangas. You could tell what the characters felt by their expressions 9/10 As I said about the story, I liked the grow of the characters and the change of their emotions too. showing the perspective of the other people not just the protagonist was a big 10/11 I love this set up for a manga. 10/10 Not gonna say that I enjoyed it the hole time but it got me feel a lot of emotions that you don't feel normally or haven't feel it in a while. 7/10 For the rest of everything else I really liked I found something I can help understand myself and realise things about me that I didn't thought of before, something like looking your own story in a book and look it from another perspective. 10/10 PS I don't normally give any reviews of something because I always been afraid of making mistakes and having difficulties to express what I am thinking resulting in taking the easy way and not do nothing. This made me change a little bit and gave me the courage to start somewhere. Just a step at the time and make small differences, tomorrow you will be a step further that you where yesterday and so on. Hope that you that read this try to make a move and give it a try on something like me doing this review. |
Soredemo Boku wa Kimi ga Suki review
I have to admit that the reason I started to read the manga was because of the Art but soon the story captivated me too.
The whole story revolves around the love stories of Yusuke Serizawa and his interaction with various girls since childhood till his adulthood. He's a very slow at growing and this is fully reflected in his behaviour with the various girls. But I have to say that each meeting and departing had its own reason. While reading I've felt like looking a real clumsy guy struggling with his loves, lovers, life and past experiences. Perhaps some events were a little forced but the overall story was well done. Life has a lot of hurdles and when you mixes the love, which you're looking for as a pillar to support you, vanishes or crumbles because external factors or your own faults at noticing your partner feelings and your own, everything becomes so much complicated. Every character has his own issues and reactions well explained in my opinion, where everyone has to overcome his/her problems to finally be able to grow and struggle for the hope of a better future. It was a very nice read and a satisfying ending. So for just 7 volumes or 44 chapters it's worth your time. On final note I've noticed that the tankobon version of the last chapter has an extra page which the original chapter didn't have. And this final page does make a difference (it's not an open ending). ;) |
Soredemo Boku wa Kimi ga Suki review
Spoilers ahead.
If I were to describe this manga it would be something like this , life experience . In a way I found myself as many others that have read this in the main characters place . Every stupid thing I've done in my youth , not that I am that old , I've experienced yet again by reading this . The whole stupid bet that would make you get the number of a girl that is the lonely ranger of the class , almost dating her because she was a really nice girl , but if you would do that your so called friends would ostracize you for it so you would of course call it quits even if deep down you know that she would've made you happy . My personal favorite was the arc with Guchi and Makino , I am a little ironic here , because this is the most common thing on the planet , a guy or a girl likes someone but is together with another person and for that I could call it the best arc , I am lying though , reading it brought back stupid memories , that I would've prefered gone . So far so good , enough with the memory lane and comparisons , so if you are still reading it means that you have a lot of time , or somehow you are finding this right up your alley . Art wise it was above average , shounen like and a little bit of shoujo magic here and there . The story was something new I guess , in a way , I can't seem to remember ever reading any manga like this , I could call it fresh , but that is my opinion , the only downside was the ending , rushed for no actual reason , it could've been more fleshed out . Character department was a bit lacking even if I called it at the beginning " life experience " , some of them seemed a bit exaggerated to a fault , the Nana x2 arc speaks for itself , plus the main MC he was a pussy from the get go , he grew a pack of dragon balls right at the last pages and for that another minus . The only character that I really liked was ' Samson ' , the girl who really loved our stupid ass MC and he almost lost her , the saving grace of the last pages , honestly speaking how can a sane person leave her like that , a sane person would've looked in every corner of this Earth , a sane person would've proposed to her on the spot , but he probably isn't a sane person , or he is just plain stupid , sorry for the rant . All in all I enjoyed reading this in my break at work and for the nostalgia of our probably stupid ass youth I can recommend this with all my heart . Thx for reading . |
