Resumen
My childhood friend Shida Kuroha seems to have feelings for me. She lives next door, and is small and cute. With an outgoing character, she’s the caring Onee-san type, this being one of her greatest strengths.

…But, I already have my first love, the beautiful idol of our school, and the award-winning author high school girl, Kachi Shirokusa! Thinking about it rationally, I should have no chances with her, but, while walking home from school, she only talks to me, with a smile even! I might actually have a chance, don’t you think?!

Or so I thought, but then I heard that Shirokusa already has a boyfriend, and my life took a turn for the worse. I want to die. Why is it not me?! Even though she was my first love…As I was drowning in despair and depression, Kuroha whispered.

—If it’s that tough for you, then how about we get revenge? The best revenge ever, that is~

First off: this is a rom-com manga. If you are looking for characters that are perfect to a T, unable to make mistakes, and situations that are realistic, you're probably not reading the right genre. The point of comedy is to make you have a lighthearted laugh at some funny situations in a world that's not your own. There's no point in getting mad at characters or trying to make sense out of situations that would never happen in real life, because laughable situations are the sole purpose of this genre.

That being said, there are still going to be those who take every situation and character's actions seriously, and not realize that most things that happen in comedy are not plot-driven or meaningful, but rather a bunch of moments that let the viewer feel emotions, hopefully with a smile. Of course, these people's opinions are totally valid, as the enjoyment of manga is based on subjectivity, and if they like to analyze everything that happens and more, then they're free to dislike.

But if you're okay with a fun rom com with an obvious twist (it's the title), and a lot of moments where you can laugh at the hilarity of situations, then this should be a good manga for you. People are not perfect all the time, and more often than not people make mistakes. Of course in the universe of fiction, a lot of these mistakes and situations are more unrealistically exaggerated, as they should be, lest it be as boring as real life.

Here's my breakdown of the elements:

Art - 8

The art looks good. I mean I'm no artist so if it looks good and pretty, then that's great.

Characters - 9

Ok, this one is probably much more subjective. As you can tell from what I wrote above, there's no point getting mad at characters for not being perfect all the time (especially when this is literally high school), and it's a rom-com. If no one made a mistake at some point, it would be 1 chapter long. With this in mind, I really like the characters. They all have distinct personalities, and you'll probably find someone to root for. I've heard people say that because a personality is nothing "new", they shouldn't be given a high score. To which I say: do you only pick friends that have a personality that's "new"? No, you just hang out with whoever's the most fun to hang out with. Imagine flaking a friend cause their personality is "overused". This is why I will just rate them on their personality, and not their personalities in entertainment's "meta" or not.

Story - 7

Still strong, but the main twist is already given in the very obvious title. Other than that, there are still some things that will make you surprised. The reason why this is getting a little lower score is just the fact that there isn't really a totally big plot compared to AoT and the like. (although you could totally call me out for comparing apples to oranges at this point)

Enjoyment - 10

I just enjoyed reading it, and so it gets a 10 for enjoyment.

Overall - 9

I liked it! That's about it. If you don't, then that's fine too - we just have different tastes I guess.

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS

I don't often like reading stories where I explicitly know the ending result, in this case, I assumed that the childhood friend would win because of the title. In this scenario I have no qualms, if the childhood friend is given the emotional and romantic moments to cement her as someone who deserves to win then thats fine by me, its just another harem manga.

However, the recent chapters really made me dislike this story.

It takes a twist of sorts and the actions the childhood friend who I was initially rooting for takes are beyond dumb that I can't even fathom it. And to keep in this integrity the main character who is directly affected by such actions immediately forgives her for no damn reason. It's damn disappointing to see a manga I really enjoyed for the first couple of chapters come to such an annoyance and make me dislike not only the childhood friend but the main character and his best friend as well.

Along with this it tries to do what i'd think of as a ayanokoji esque character change and have her become some sort of crush who's planning out attacks and such even though she just made debatebly the dumbest decision that one could make in this type of genre. The whole personality flip is honestly revolting and makes me dislike the characters much more.

TLDR:

The beginning was good, they wanted to add a plot twist and completely uprooted the characters and made me dislike them even more.

This is my review up until the latest chapter, so the arc might change as time moves on.

So this manga, at least for me, has been decent, UP UNTIL THE LATEST 2 OR 3 CHAPTERS (in which case I had to control my frustration).

This manga blatantly sees itself as a harem with a twist(as it says in the absurdly long title). Disappointingly, this harem twist has another twist of it's own. In this case, we're back to square one.

And my deadass thought it was going to be a question of "who is who" like nisekoi.

Story 5/10
Typical harem plot

Art 6/10
The art doesn't really stand out that much. I've seen this artstyle multiple times.

Characters 4/10
The characters are why reading this manga in a short amount of time could be this frustrating.

The MC is dense asf. Someone you would expect off of a harem manga. I just pity for him.

Shiro is plainly decent and one dimensional.
The loli is the imouto type.
Best girl jack of all trades.

Then there's Kuro...

You see, if you really love someone, you don't play with their emotions. You don't try to justify your selfishness as your love for someone. You don't manipulate the situation because you know better. Kuro is the antithesis of that.

[SPOILER WARNING]
The reason why the recent chapters were weak and frustrating to read is because of Kuro. When MC genuinely confessed to her, knowing full that she has feelings for him, REJECTED him in front of the crowd. Great job. Your crush is the laughingstock of the century now. I could go back to how she would encourage him to confess to Shiro and say it out loud how a manipulative asswipe she is.

Not to mention the MC's sleazebag best friend. How could you call someone a best friend if they did nothing but badmouth you and humiliate you in the internet?

And now in that latest chapter clearly shows that birds of a feather flock together.

Enjoyment 5/10
I hope the story recovers though. The first chapters were good to read right before the recent chapters when it just became very trashy.

Overall 5/10

Going into the manga it was very promising. Even now it has room to grow. Although this is the case its characters are boring and annoying. Kuro being the worst. She is a complete degenerate that is manipulative to the point where she torturing the MC. She alone ruins the series but at the same time makes it more interesting. If she was not there this story would be even more cliche.

Story: 6
Boring story, nothing special at all. Basic cultural festival and other events. The revenge concept is interesting but has no backbone to it. It feels as though the author is trying to make this a revenge story but I do not see any true purpose behind the revenge.

Art: 7
It's average. Not bad nor is it special. Backgrounds are incredibly dull, character art is nice but characters design is not memorable.

Character: 6
This was the deciding factor for the series. Characters are all cliche but the decisions they make have little to no purpose to them. It's all just to make it more interesting. Everything the female leads do seem to just add is for the sake of the story, but it's so rushed and the characters are not developing but their behavior is determined in the first chapter. From the get-go, Kuro is manipulative and so conceited. She has an appeal to her, she's a terrible person and I hope the author doesn't go with his title. The osananajimi character is usually the better choice but somehow this character makes me hate her (this also is why the character is as high as 6). This is annoying to watch her hinder the main character's life, but her writing makes the whole story slightly worthwhile. Lastly, the best friend is terrible, your average tool of a character, maybe he's jealous or something but he needs to chill. He's boring and a bully, nothing else to it.

Enjoyment: 6
I got through it. Some of the events were so annoying that is memorable. If it was longer then the enjoyment would've been lower unless we can get more to the story.

TLDR: All in all, it's pretty bad but not a terrible read, I've read worse. If you looking for a harem that tries to go against some of the norms it might be for you.

‘Never fall in love. Love is a poison. Once you fall in love, you lose control over your life --- your heart and mind belong to someone else. Your existence is threatened. You start to do everything to hold on to your loved one and lose all sense of danger. Love, that inexplicable and dangerous thing, sweeps everything you are form the face of the earth and, in its place, leaves only what your beloved wants you to be.’

How does one pinpoint the exact moment, when they fall in love? It all started from a single student council president, being both enlightened and charismatic. He thought that it was unfair for only girls to have an opportunity to confess during the Valentine's Day. And so, he thought that the boys should also have an equal chance to express their feelings. Thus was born the student council sponsored event, the 'Shout of the High School Students', or just 'Confession Festival'. Maru Suehararu, 17, no girlfriend. Unfortunately, no girl has ever made a declaration of love to him so far and because of that the confession festival is the only hope left for him to finally find a girlfriend.

This might sound as one of the worst manga that, by the way, will get an anime in 2021, however, there is more to that. I will not deny the fact that there are plenty clichés. Thankfully, the manga manages to overwork these clichés and it becomes readable. But! The problem is that it is quite a challenge to assess a manga only after 9 chapters. I will not try to hide the fact that this manga is neither awesome, nor bad. So far, it is just good and fun to read, because the story is not as easy as it might seem, it is somewhat special and unpredictable. And this might even make this manga even more interesting in the future, or it will become yet another average harem romcom about a male protagonist, who is just too afraid to make a step and make a declaration of love.

Overall, I started reading this manga because of Shigure Ui and because of the fact that it will get an anime in the future. I do not know if I should recommend this manga for every anime fan, but if you are a fan of romcoms, this might be what you are looking for. For others, however, time will tell how this will turn out.
