Resumen
Kimi wa Girlfriend is about a girl named Hatsune with a "bad mouth," for lack of a better description. She's kind-hearted, but her mouth spews the total opposite of what she means (which is probably due to the fact that she grew up with only male influence). Thus, she is seen as an arrogant, vulgar girl at her school, but all she wants is a boyfriend. Well, that is, until she gets accepted at the Maidens' Club, where she meets a guy named Kirie, with a somewhat unique habit that happens when a girl comes within a foot of him. Everyone says he's gay, even Hatsune.
How will these two fare? Will Hatsune have a boyfriend at last? Will he be more than just a friend?

Kimi wa Girlfriend review
You're My Girlfriend was actually very good! I am pleased to say I never one dropped it! (Although that may be because it's so short =))
Story 10/10: The storyline is pretty good. I liked the ending; it was adorable. Art 8/10: I think I'd give the art an eight. This was because, though they fit, I didn't really like some of the facial expressions, and that really set me off. Characters 10/10: The character development was as good as to be expected of a super short manga. I like the main male character, Kirie, who had the most humorous habit I'd ever read about. I also liked that Hatsune was obnoxious, as I am sometimes like that (although not to the degree Hatsune was ^_^). Enjoyment 10/10: I really liked this! And as much I wish it were longer, in a way, the short ending fits. Overall 10/10: Absolutely! I liked everything, from the obnoxious behavior, to the conniving characters, and the male characters (=}), and everything in between. It's a great read for those who have some spare time and like cute stories. |
Kimi wa Girlfriend review
Kimi wa girl friend.
For a one shot manga, this isn't really bad, but I can't say it's good either. [Read the synopsis] The character's character didn't even change a bit from start to end - this is where consistency is a bad idea - there should have been more some kind of a twist, but there's none. Plus, the girl is annoying. I mean, if you want to be friends with other people, who doesn't know the rule - be nice to them. And the guy? What? He's not gay, obviously, so why exaggerate? Don't act one if you aren't. I recommend this for people who are bored reading GOOD mangas, you need a break sometimes. ;) here you go. |
Kimi wa Girlfriend review
story 6/10
The idea is not really origional and the plot is sort of predictable. There are some funny moments but overall it's just you average romance between tsundere and honest persons. art 7/10 The art is nothing special, I just really like the style. characters 5/10 Well just the basic idea, one character has a problem (in this case she is never honest) and has a dream (to get girl-friends) then she meets a special person and then I won't spoil the rest. The two main characters are complete opposite (cliche) and both have their own problems. In most manga's like this the characters over come those problems and become nicer persons but this one was just too short to have that happen so the characters are pretty boring. Overall 6/10 Okay, the characters are boring, the art is nothing special and the story is predictable but it's not hard to read. There are some funny moments and the side characters are a little special (in a nice way). Overall it's a predictable cliche story but its short so its a nice inbetween read. |
Kimi wa Girlfriend review
At first I didn't wanna read this. The cover art wasn't very good, so I thought the drawings would be worse inside the manga. But actually, the art was very well done. Anyways, I thought that Kimi wa Girlfriend was very humorous and cute. One thing I didn't like was how the problems were solved very easily. But overall, it was a great manga.

Kimi wa Girlfriend review
First of all, I apologize for the grammar and spelling mistakes I may make. English is not my mother tongue.
There are lots of good examples in mangas of straightforward girls that find it difficult to build relationships with others: Maria Kawai, of Akuma to love song is the first example that comes to my mind. This is not the case in this manga: I didn´t like the female character at all. I don´t find her "credible". The story goes about a girl that has no friends because she is unable to communicate properly, and the way her life changes when she joins the "Maidens Club" and meets the president of the club: a boy called Kirie. I understand that someone may have difficulties conveying accurately what he or she feels. But being too straightforward or being rude is not the same as being "mean". Hasune doesn't say what she feels in a rude way. She says exactly "the opposite" to what she wants to say. Not only that: she is mean, just because. Some of the situations are believable, but other are just absurd. There is, for example, a scene in which Hasune bakes cookies for the girls in her class, with the hope of making new friends. Instead of saying: "Would you like some cookies?" or "Please, have some cookies", I understand a rude person may say something like "Here, take this", and force the other person to take the cookies: "I said you take them!". But why would she throw the cookies on the floor and say something like: "Bow down and eat. You deserve to eat it like that"? It makes no sense at all... Is she insane or something? Does she have a personality disorder? I think that having been raised among men isn´t enough justification for her behavior. The male character is much better. Not good enough to make up for the rest, though. I gave the manga a 4 because it has some funny moments, but a really didn´t like it. |
Kimi wa Girlfriend review
Kiimi wa Girlfriend / You're My Girlfriend: A story about a high-school girl who has some personality issues, thus resulting in not having any friends...until she met a guy. Except there's a catch......he's gay. How will both of their lives progress?!?! Happily-ever-after or a situation spiraling out of control?!?!
[Story - 10] The story in Kimi wa Girlfriend really intrigued me. I personally found it interesting to see whether two polar opposites will be able to get along or not. It may be a fairly common storyline amongst manga, but it's always interesting in it's own, unique ways. In this case, a mean girl surrounded by older brothers and a kind boy surrounded by older sisters. [Art - 9] The art. I always thought that art in manga were very detailed, especially with all those strands of hair and all but this book's art was fantabulous! The expressions fit the environment and situation and at times can be very hilarious. Clean panel layouts with fun(ny) side dialog. [Character - 10] Usually in manga the girls' personality was kind and sweet but the main heroine in this one totally blew me away. EXACT opposite of what usual feminine personalities were. Every storyline changes made in the middle of the book was extremely off my predictions due to the unpredictability the author has made the characters. Every turn is a new one. Made the storyline POP out and extremely fun to read. [Overall - 10] A solid 10 hands down. I was drawn in the book from start to finish. The author definitely knows how to do her job right. Satisfied my demands and leaves me wanting more... |

Kimi wa Girlfriend is and still is my absolute favorite manga read, I've loved to read it and continue on with it's comedy/romance theme and so on. I constantly refer to it as my "inspiration" and manga read of all time. I enjoyed this manga C:

Kimi wa Girlfriend review
Yes, this is my very first review here in MAL, and I should say I'm surprised myself that this is for a manga which I did not sign up for here in the first place. I mean, I'm an anime fan so I thought it would be natural to cast my first review for it, not for any manga of some sort.
Anyway, this manga was so great that I had the urge to give "justice" to it. I just bought a copy of it today (technically today is a different date but I haven't slept yet so..) from a store that sells second-hand mangas, read it, and after 3 hours or so, I thought to myself "Well, that was good. Kinda unique". I have read more popular mangas before but this is a special one 'cause I've read it not through online, a fairly short one, but I felt an overall enjoyment. So why the extremely high score? For one, the story caught me by surprise. You see, I picked it out from the shelf without knowing what the story was all about. Yes, all I have was the title and the cover photo because I bought the raw one. No english synopsis and all so I just read right through it, mustering all the Japanese knowledge I could use, and oh boy, who would have thought this Kirie was like "that". It really triggers my curiosity to what's gonna happen next so that's a 10. I also gave 10 to the art as it adds to the enjoyment. Kinda reminds me of the Last Game's way of expressing the atmosphere and mood. I dunno. And yes, 10 to the characters. So unique. I totally enjoyed the overall story so I gave it a perfect score considering that it's a short one. I'm not a stingy rater so I don't hesitate to give a 10 to those animes or mangas that I think I would definitely re-watch or re-read without a second thought so here it is. |
Kimi wa Girlfriend review
I loooved the story! Although its not original... it had its own special flare that kept it interesting. Kirie and Hatsune are what really set this manga apart from other similar mangas. The relationship between the two main characters was very amusing! As a girl, I would personally love to have a friend like Kirie! The artwork was beautiful. I loved the character designs. All in all... it was a quick, fun, cute, and lighthearted read and is highly recommended!
