Aisopos review
"There was a horse feeding on grass, then, suddenly a deer came and razed the grass.
The horse got angry and it wanted to catch the deer, so it asked someone passing by for help. The man willingly agreed and said: - I'll go find a spear. Would you let me put a bit in your mouth and ride on you? If you let me do that, I'll find and kill the deer. Without hesitation the horse said yes. Riding on the horseback, the man succeeded in hunting the deer. You know what? After that the horse had to give the man a ride on his back forever" A very rich story in Ancient Greece featuring true historical characters and events, full of wise tales. Aesop is a famous greek fabulist, although it's not so sure the he really existed. The author here takes on part of his fables but add his own thoughts, creating a rich plot with very well-crafted characters as the story progress, all with their own emotions and motivations. The art creates a great mix of the manhwa style with greek black-figure pottery, also with great coloring to set the atmosphere making beautiful scenes. Some times the story seems softened, but it's also, as it's greek influences, very tragic. Every arc have a tale behind it, but sometimes you will miss who's the wolf, who's the fox, and who's the lion, and some characters may not be as smart, or as dumb, or as good, or as bad, as they look. |
