Drifters, manga written by Hirano Kouta presents us a dark-fantasy cruel world where the legendary historical figures are transferred from our world by a bespectacled guy called Murasaki who is associated with the light and a beautiful young black-haired girl whose desires are darker than her very own hair . The story is about good Drifters, which want to protect the helpless humanity from the ruthless Ends, which have deep grudge against the humanity and wish to create a new world ruled by awful monsters.
How you may expect nothing is so simple as we would like it to be. The main characters (the Drifters) are cruel lord Oda Nobunaga, insane Shimazu Toyohisa and legendary warrior Yoichi Suketaka Nasu. We meet also many others but these three are the most significant. After they protected the village of the lovely elves from the nazi-racist assholes who deserved to die (and they did in many cruel ways) and rescued the beautiful female elves from the awful hands of nazi-racist assholes from the castle this time they decided to concourse the whole world (Nobunaga’s idea). Unfortunately before they can do this the main characters were informed by the organization called Octobrist that they have to fight the Black Lord and his army of Ends and many kinds of monsters. Ends are pretty interesting characters because of the historical reasons for becoming these monsters filled with hatred. Joanna D’arc, woman who was burned by her own nation and has the power to control fire, Anastasia Romanova also killed by her people and gain power to control ice or Rasputin, the master of manipulation who got killed for that and got power to turn people into his pawns. I found it very interesting (maybe because I love the cruel history of our world).
Anyway when I’m writing this revision manga stopped in the middle of the battle, so at this point the story is pretty simple but good and captivating. The characters are interesting and I can’t wait to see their development.
Now a little bit about art which in my opinion is gorgeous especially when the author jumps from the serious action to comedy. Well this kind of art is pretty original so it depends on reader likings.
In conclusion I wait for the further story and I think that this manga has some potential.
