TL;DR A wonderfully well made tragicomic manga that has an exquisitely unique art style that may not be enjoyed by many, an extraordinarily realistic and funny main character and touching themes. I thoroughly suggest reading this to everyone who wants to enjoy a silly yet meaningful manga.

First review I'm making bla bla bla, don't be too harsh with me 'n' all.

So, Saikyou Densetsu Kurosawa, a manga written by Nokuyuki Fukumoto, what do I think about it? This masterpiece truthfully hit me really hard, I've read a lot of manga (perhaps by this website's standards I might have not read a lot of it, but eh) and this is legitimately the first time I feel touched enough to write a few words about what I've just finished reading.

Story: 9/10

Kurosawa is a 44 years old grumpy ugly man who suddenly realizes that his life has been nothing but wasted, and wants to fix that by becoming popular with his co-workers and maybe even getting laid. The manga in a first place revolves about his pathetic attempts at becoming popular with really anybody, but then shifts to more about his misadventures and lots, LOTS of misunderstandings.
The story never felt rushed or forced, it flowed really naturally and consistently and it was really easy to follow.

Art: 8/10

If you're familiar with any of Fukumoto's works, then you should be totally fine with his art style and how unique it is, but if you're a first time reader one can definitely understand that it is quite hard to accept an art style featuring BIG noses, but I consider it to be really intriguing and like a breath of fresh air, comparing it to the average manga art style.

Character 9/10

This is where this manga absolutely triumphs! The main character, Kurosawa, is the apotheosis of what you don't want as main protagonist in any manga: he's ugly, he's fat, he drinks and gets drunk a lot, he's a pervert, a coward, a lunatic and whatnot.
But it makes it all the more enjoyable, because Kurosawa just feels so realistic! You would think there's no way you would end up cheering for a loser like him, and yet you'll find yourself actively rooting even for his smallest (and very often only) achievements.
Kurosawa also has an incredible development during the manga, gaining a confidence boost and getting braver.
I don't feel like giving a 10 to this category solely because, like other Fukumoto's works, side characters are often just plot devices and don't really get any development which is kind of sad, but in my opinion Kurosawa's persona alone makes it worth it.

Enjoyment 10/10

Hell yeah did I enjoy reading this one! Getting all excited and eager about a manga talking about someone's pathetic daily life may look a little silly, but this manga just manages to make the journey enjoyable for you! The manga consistently keeps things interesting and I was always looking forward to reading more, and it had majorly awesome fun and tragic moments.
I heard that the beginning might be a little slow paced, but I personally didn't encounter this problem and felt like it was smooth all along.
And boy that ending...

Overall 10/10

If you're familiar and are a fan of any of Fukumoto's other works, then you're most likely going to love this one! I believe you'll also enjoy this if you're just looking for a realistic story about a realistic man facing realistic life problems in a fun yet thoughtful way.
