One of my favorite mangas.

First off what is probably the most impressive about this manga is the art style. It's visually striking; bold, fluid and emotive. The designs are simplistic yet beautiful and get the emotion across very strongly. It's not a traditional 'manga' style and very much influenced by Western media so to some it might be strange, but to me it's one of my favorite aspects of this work.

The plot itself is very convoluted....there's a lot of thick blocks of text, especially exposition and other bits that can be harder to get through. Upon a first read one would probably miss most of whats going on in the background, which would be understandable. (Luckily for all of us this is a quick read). FLCL comes to mind when thinking about the plot...a lot of what's going on is very character-driven with a background of something much bigger going on that isn't so evident at first. However, the characters themselves have very strong motivations and interesting characteristics which makes up for the fact that the plot can be hard to follow at times.

I can understand why some people might not like QKO-chan as its very much not in the traditional style of most mangas (both in storytelling and art) but for those that enjoy something more experimental this might be the read for them.
