@67 chapters read:
Disappointed. Really wanted to like this manga as i was drawn in immediately by it's cool style. Have you seen the cover of the first volume? That shit is lovely. Unfortunately, beautiful art does not salvage a rushed and predictable narrative.
Art:
Visually, definitely some CLAMP influence, especially in the intricacy and detail of character design. A plus for me, definitely a departure from a more traditional and (dare i say masculine) approach to shone character design.
The problem with this art, which I especially felt at the beginning of the series, was that it aestheticized violence/fights to the point where...they didn't seem dangerous anymore. Stakes seemed lower when two 'cute' characters fought each other.
Characters:
Characters are fun but nothing new. Tremendously aided, again, by the fact that they all have rad af character designs. The only reason why i kept reading past the ~40chapter mark was because of the introduction of a large group of new, powerful characters. Too bad the author doesn't take the chance to explore personality and motivation in any concrete, meaningful way.
Story:
No world building. Story is pretty formulaic and goes from feeling aimless in the first 10 or so chapters to a rushed formulaic shonen narrative.
