Solo Leveling review
Just a note: This is my first review, so pardon me if it has odd errors or is formatted wrong.

Why I must Write This Review: Essentially I have been forced to give this review, not out of the enjoyment I received from the series (although there is much), but simply to ask people to hold their final verdict until the story is closer to being completed. Although the story may not seem like it, majority of the important information of the series is withheld until later. This in turn, makes it appear as though the writer made people had powers just to have powers. This is not the case. Everything within the manhwa can be explained, just not until later. Think of it as a slowly unfolding mystery. I won't say anymore to avoid spoilers.

Story: You can read the synopsis, I won't be restating it here. The story in the beginning seems simple, and possibly even bland to some. A classic zero to hero story, great. However, this simple outlook could not be more misguided. Just know that the story itself in the beginning is highly enjoyable to most people, while the writing near the end (which has not been shown yet outside of the LN) is very well done. This eventual reveal in the LN truly blew my mind, so I'm giving the manhwa a 10/10 since its been a truthful adaptation so far.

Art: Nothing much to say. Fantastic art with its own unique style.

Character: Unfortunately, the one thing that can't really be carried over from a LN is all the internal dialogue. I would give the LN protagonist a solid 10/10, but for a manhwa, it only gets an 8. He's still a good protagonist, and you can visibly see him change, but the effect isn't as strong as the LN.

Enjoyment: The series is so enjoyable that its addictive. I blasted through the chapters lightning fast, and I didn't even realize. If nothing else, read the story just for a good time.

Summary: Great art, great story (which has not been entirely revealed), and good character (great in LN). Would recommend to anyone.

Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou review
This is my first review but this manga definitely deserves one! I originally watched the first OVA of the anime over a year ago and was completely blown away about how a two episode OVA could captivate me the way YKK did. So after about a year I decided to read the manga and wow it might be the best manga I've read. Alpha is an android living in a post-apocalyptic Japan and runs a coffee shop that only gets one or two customers a week. We see Alpha's everyday adventures of learning about the world, appreciating the nature around her, and watching her and the people around her grow. The art is beautiful and makes you look for a minute before turning the page. It is very relaxed and laid back and just makes you feel good. It captures the idea of "mono no aware." It is light-hearted but also a but melancholic and sad in a sense. I would put it into the category of slice of life and "iyashikei," or in other words, "healing manga." It makes you understand the concept of impermanence and makes you appreciate the present as much as you can, because time moves faster than you know it. I recommend this manga to everyone because it definitely has a special place in my heart. Also definitely check out the OVA! The first OVA is one of my favorite animated pieces ever, but the second one is good as well. When you finish reading and watching yokohama kaidashi kikou, you will definitely feel some type of way, but in a good, tranquil way.

Book Club review
There's more to this story than the description's letting on.

I honestly don't think this fits the "horror" genre. Yes, there are numerous scenes which can be considered scary but after reading a few chapters you'll realize that the story is revolving around a mystery and not so much focused on trying to scare its readers, which is supposed to be the main goal of a horror story. I'd also like to reitarte the other review when he/she said that it gave him a sort of "The ring/the grudge" feel because I also experienced that. I'm an avid fan of The Ring series and aside from this book's "long haired scary girl popping out of sth" factor that made it resemble The Ring, the ending in which the male main character was just being used also gave off that feel since it wasn't a happy ending and his efforts were in vain.

Now this story was fairly short and must be finished in one sitting. Yes, 'must'. Not 'can', must. This is because you are forced to keep going once questions start to arise. As the story progresses so do the number of questions you start to have and you're left to wonder if the author, with only a few chapters left, will be able to execute the ending in such a way that all questions are thoroughly explained and not just blurted out in a "half-assed" manner because of lack of planning and or due to the overly complicated story he was trying to build up. To my relief, the author was in fact able to answer the VITAL questions. I enjoyed the story but was left a little bit unsatisfied because there were still key points that have yet to be answered. Some questions if not answered, were tackled so quickly that it didn't really give the audience enough time to feel or connect with the situation. I would have given it a 9 or possibly a 10 if the plot twist, as well as the tiny details, had been executed in a much more profound manner.

All in all, Book Club is worth a read for those with a curious mind; but if you're looking for something to test your courage, this manhwa might not satisfy your "craving" enough. (Which was in my case, hence the score of 8)

I invite you all to give it a shot though!

Gokutei Higuma review
This is/was a manga that did not deserve to get axed. Everything about it was enjoyable, especially the characters and the way the story was going, but alas, it will never reach it's full potential.

Gokutei Higuma is one of those manga that seems like it should've gone for awhile, not too long, perhaps a good 200 or so chapters. The story, while mostly in it's infantile form, was shaping up to be good, something people could get invested in, to watch as the backstories of the Villains, Protagonists, and Side Characters were all revealed and developed. Not to mention how fascinating the idea of Hell Wardens is within the context of the universe.

The action scenes are easy to follow, offering a clean, well polished artstyle, cute designs, wonderfully drawn backgrounds, and a cutesy-vibe that somehow fits the mood of the story very well. I especially love how the eyes and teeth are drawn. Very expressive!

The exploration of characters was nice, considering that the female lead, Ayaha, was more fleshed out than most Shounen Heroines, and was going to be a big contender for my all-time favourite characters. She actually had *powers* and could defend herself, wasn't tsundere despite her rancorous personality, and refusal to back down, and she really had a capable aura about her. This is a rarity, and in all honesty, it shouldn't be.

Ayaha is an incredible heroine in an industry that prefers their female characters defenseless, useless, and one-dimensionally in love with the main male lead. If I were to compare her to a character, it'd always be a Male Lead, as she embodies a lot of Shounen Hero Cliches in her character. She exists in her Protagonist Learning phase, before she could develop her power and become a ridiculously overpowered protag, basically.

I love Ayaha, if it wasn't obvious.

Higuma was a bit more bland comparatively, but he ended up more interesting as the story went on, and within these short few chapters, I was able to become attached to him enough that I could overlook my dislike for his character trope.

The other characters that appeared were also very fun and interesting, and brought a lot to the table. The villains were very much shaping up to be fascinating in their own ways.

Honestly, a lot of what I enjoyed about this title was how, despite having the shounen aura there, it went against a lot of pre-established character conventions oh, so prominent in a lot of other titles. It really could have been something special, I think.

Perhaps I'm biased, perhaps not, who knows.

Read it for yourself if you want to, and come to your own conclusions.
