Koe no Katachi review
When I decided to read this story, I expected that this is going to be good but I didn’t expected that I will like it right away. The first chapter was some kind of sypnosis taken from Ishida’s (Shouya) POV. It’s about what happened in their elementary years where he bullied a transferred student who has impaired hearing. When I decided to read this manga, I already know about the bullying so I thought I’m calm, but reading how he bullied Nishimiya, I was really really really mad.

This story started a flashback of Ishida’s elementary years when their teacher introduces a new transferred student Nishimiya Shōko, which became a target of bullying because of her disability. It was ofcourse started by Ishida and reading about what he did to her really makes me mad. Back then, Ishida really hates her. He thinks she’s a nuisance and he blames her for everything that is happening to him and for ruining the whole class. His bullying to her escalated until the time comes that he became the target of bullying too. That intensified his anger towards her that they’ve been engaged into a physical fight. The next day, they just found out that she transferred. That’s also the start where he was bullied big time and left alone with no friends to speak to and absolutely no plans for the future.

All were explained properly on how the bully was now become the one being bullied. Well, karma is a b*tch they said, and I think he just got his share much sooner. And I would be lying if I said he didn’t deserve it, because he really did. I know, I know, no one deserves to be bullied and even though I think he deserves it, I still feel sorry for him especially that even his teacher didn’t believed him when he said that he was bullied and that he even told him that he kind of deserves it. Like what the heck?! That teacher doesn’t deserve to be a teacher at all! Isn’t he the adult here?!

I really want this review to be spoiler free, but it can’t be helped. So I’m going to speak straight ahead and tell you what I really think about this story 😉

Ishida is now a senior in high school and he practically planned everything and save some money by selling all his belongings to maybe not feel guilty about what he’s going to do. He’s not angry to Nishimiya like he did before but he is now guilty of what he did to her. After saying sorry to Nishimiya in person, he’s planning to jump off the bridge and commit suicide. Yep. This story is kind of dark, well, what do you expect? Bullying sometimes leads to suicide, but instead of the one being bullied, it’s the bully who’s committing it. But after meeting Nishimiya again and talked to her, he kind of changed his mind. I really thought that she will kick his butt after what he did, but she just smiled. Wow, this girl really is so nice and so innocent even after all that happened to her.

Their first meeting after 5 years didn’t just stopped there until they finally became friends, isn’t that just nice? I’m still suppose to hate Ishida because of what he did to Nishimiya before but after what he endured and he finally decided to live his life repenting and making sure she’ll be happy again, I guess that should be enough eh?

Ishida then helped Nishimiya to reunite with Sahara, their classmate in elementary and every kids that was supposed to be close to her. All was doing great actually and btw, we’ve got to meet Nishimiya’s younger sister Yuzuru too. She was bullied too before because of her sister’s condition so I really thought she’ll going to resent her for that, but instead she’s protective of her that she even looks like a guy now because of her short hair. After the incident at school, she did her best to make her sister happy. But I guess by now she understands that she became more happier now that Ishida is here. I know it’s bound to happen but I still can’t contain it when Nishimiya tried to tell Ishida that she likes him. Aww, young love indeed.

Nishimiya was then reunited with Ueno and Kawai but it wasn’t that pleasant like it did with Sahara. These kids really have a lot of issues and is acting like they didn’t do anything wrong to Nishimiya. Ofcourse it’s Ishida that should be blame the most but those two including his former “supposed” friends are to blame too. They did some nasty things too anyway. It happened too fast that I was surprised when Nishimiya tried to commit suicide ’til Ishida came to rescue her, but he then fell and was comatose. I know Ueno was a b*tch but she became nastier after the accident. My! I really wanted to get her out of the manga and strangle her. So is Kawai, she’s acting nice and all but deep inside she’s really not that nice.

I think all of them has their own issues including both Ishida and Nishimiya’s mothers but I’m glad that in the end, they both settled it. Well, to be correct, they all actually settled it. I’m just happy that finally all of them is in the right track especially Nishimiya.

I really like this story. I’ve been into romance lately and it’s really kind of hard to sway myself away from that mood, but this story just did that as early as its first chapter. I love the message of this story. It is really something that all of us should ponder and learn especially younger readers. It doesn’t just talk about bullying, redemption, family but also about friendship and how to overcome your fear. All of us can totally relate to each characters; you could either relate to Ishida, to Nishimiya, Nagatsuka, Ueno etc.

It was also great that the author added the part about Nishimiya’s mom; on what happened why she’s so strict to her and even mean especially about her haircut when she was in Elementary. And speaking of haircut, I think it’s because of Ishida’s mother that she’s influenced to take hair dressing course.

It was actually my first time reading a story where the main character has disability and it was really kind of nice. Well, scratch that, it was great!

Oh no, where do I fucking begin. Despite what many of the manwha legion will claim, this story is not one that is good and has no real meaning that leaves you feeling bored after the official ending. This shit must have been written by an angsty 15 year old because it is every bit of power fantasy that you would expect from a something written by them. The main character has a heroic moment at the beginning, but after that his personality does a complete 180 and is easily one of the most powerful characters nearly 30 chapters in. A lot of stories seem to miss the slow progression of the hero and it is very saddening to see a bunch of the hero's development and charm nearly disappear.

Before explaining the rest of the story, a fatal flaw about the manwha must be discussed. The simple fact that no other character in the show (except for one other character that is promptly killed) takes all of the interesting progression out of the story. I do not understand why the author thought that it was a good idea to lock everyone else's power level and only have him scale up. Later on, this becomes a massive problem later on, but this is even important near the beginning.

The art is pretty good, especially for a webtoon. Panels can be boring and the backgrounds can be lacking. Overall, it's fine and there's nothing that can be too criticized, other than the fact that the character designs can be uninspired.

Here comes the issue. Spoilers ahead. The story revolves around leveling up, so it goes without saying that the enemies would need to be more and more powerful over time. Giving the main character a necromancer ability that allows him to use very strong monsters from past fights was a big mistake. It completely removes any weakness that he may have and effectively kills all the tension that may arise in fights. Having the main character lose builds character and increases stakes for later fights, but after so many fights with 0 losses I know that he can't lose. Power creep gets very bad after he clears the hard demon dungeon, and that's when I lost almost all interest. Every other character is sucking his dick and he has near infinite power. His edge is also through the roof as he kills without mercy but is still kind-hearted? I just didn't understand his character. When he single-handedly defeats an enemy that none of the other top hunters in the nation could do combined and rose him from the dead, I understood that the manwha could not go on and that it's problems could only get worse.

How could the character even lose at this point? He is unbeatable and untouchable. This is as generic and bland as it gets, saved only by the art.

Tl;dr I would avoid this one.

Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria review
First I will let the writing speak for itself, in this spoiler-free passage below:

"“I was convinced that I had grasped your behavioral patterns completely by now. But I couldn’t predict your statement just now at all. Can you imagine how amusing this is for someone accustomed to eternal boredom?” she says, looking delighted."

There's more. For instance, in the opening scenes of this supposedly dark and gritty series, the main heroine reveals her reality-defying power by telling the main character about the color of a girl's panties. It's a cold open, a rolling intro, and a crash into a panty flash.

God and Buddha help me, I read every volume to witness and report on the hundreds of examples of awful dialogue and Light Novel cliches, If your mind can interpret this trainwreck as salvageable, you have an inhumanly forgiving mind that I am unable to comprehend.

I've helped edit literary abortions-in-progress, and have produced terrible work myself. I understand that madness that results in teenage characters using fifty words instead of eight. I sympathize with the stupidity of tacking backstories of abuse onto small children and having one mutter, literally, "murdermurdermurder" in the least subtle possible way of setting up the twist villain of a book. But the humane way to handle those manuscripts is to label them as inherently irrecoverable, and then to euthanize them.

You might think this will be funny, or at the least, a campy and edgy read. This is true for many light novels and web novels. By any faith or philosophy you might hold, trust me, this is not true here. Worse than just bad, the writing is boring. If you are into bad video game mechanics being described in pointless and excruciating detail, you know who you are, and no force in imagination will restrain you from reading this.

If you do not give this writer a single yen, and avoid supporting the paid publication of further work, my work will be done. I've read good postmodern books. I love the genre. You can fly through songs, bodies, and minds. For your own benefit and pleasure, I urge you to choose something better than this. You deserve it.

Isekai Nonbiri Nouka review
Ookay, this is my first review for any manga, and after reading some of the reviews i feel like i should put in my thought to clear few things up about this manga and also to give some reason to why i personally enjoy reading it.

and to update to new comer to the series, all the old reviews top reading this manga around chapter 15 to 27, lemme update to you that is manga now has 110 chapters now(as of 19 of march 2020), so u guys plenty to read.

First, isekai nonbiri is a laid-back kind of manga, and is it definitely NOT for everyone, is just about a man who died, got reincarnate as one hell of a OP farmer and live a laid-back life, so do not expect anything epic and jaw-dropping to happen, he just a farmer after all. with that out of the way let move to the scoring.

Story 7: what do you expect, is it the life of a farmer living though his day, even-though is not something particular, i found myself feel relaxed when i read it, there are a few arc later on to spice things up though(for me), so i give it a solid score of 7

Art 7: while the art could have been better, i do not found to be so bad, the character looks feel unique enough, after all, how can u make a village of hundreds of people to be all unique, is just a normal isekai after all(btw zabuton look kinda cute)

character 6: sadly to say, the characters in this manga is rather meh or mundane for me, but the variety of different races keep me entertained.

However, i DO want to clear a few thing about our MC, if u pay attention to chapter one, he has a special gift that the god(one of three i think) is a good background ability, it means that WHOEVER meet him under ANY circumstances will always see him in a good sense, i see some people say that other characters just throw themselves at him (something along those line) well is because of that ability, this ability was to given to him by a freakin god, ofc its gonna be OP, like his tool and healthy body. and second to back it up is this, time move rather quickly in this manga, from one panel to the other can make many different and lets look at this world like this, this world is at war, people being enslaved, starved, killed like flies, some barely escaped with their life, then they found a place where there a food, shelter, safe, there also a guy who is good natured to keep those people all of that, peace was the greatest gift one could give you in those time, and it is a medieval fantasy we talking about, many thing to entertain or do, no tv, internet, just war, so when you were given thing like fulfilling jobs, good food, you will feel to have the debt of gratitude, they will want to repaid him with kindness, so girl wouldnt mind give themselves to him, what else could they give that is unique and more sincere (of that time and age), plus people mind are rather simple at those time, breeding is meh, is all for the survival of their races, so suck it up.

enjoyment 8: i have re read this manga about 5 time now(till round chapter 100) that should show how much i enjoyed it, but the reason why is mainly what i stated above, is it relaxing read, a kind of read after a long day of study and work, you just want to laid back reading something simple, ez to follow and calm, i like that. plus there are some moment i found funny, like how he got ganged up by the girl lol (spoiler: he does confess he enjoyed it a bit ;) )

Overall, is it a 7 from me, not a masterpiece for sure, but it is a relaxing read

well i hope you guys find this review helpful, if not, well ...., sorry i guess ?

Koukaku Kidoutai 2: Manmachine Interface review
This is the first MAL review I've written. It was unavoidable because I felt compelled to write it.

I will keep this somewhat spoiler-free, so things will mostly be kept in general.

After reading the book, I for the life of me am incapable of properly explaining the general premise of the story to any accurate degree. It was all a blur. It was basically something along the lines of a roller-coaster ride of the main character "Motoko" being in the classic GITS digital world in a series of panty shot randomness escapades. Mix in more classic Masamune Shirow elements (e-thugs, cyberbrains, hacking, body swapping, attack barriers, viruses, over-your-helmet techy talk, etc.) and multiply it by an order of magnitude of more panty shots, and you got yourself The Ghost in the Shell 2: Man-Machine Interface.

In a general sense, Motoko's duty is something along the lines of hunting down some baddie(s) in the digital realm for some reason. Of course the end result is the classic GITS trope of the main character "fusing" her cyberbrain with the enemy to create a new unified version of the two, thus them each losing their individuality and creating a better, blended version... I think. Of course throughout this entire escapade, Motoko does her classic body-swapping multiple times, thus we get many-a-pantsu shots from many-a-skimpily-clad female characters. Hot dayam ( ๏ ͜ʖ ๏ ). Zero complaints for the ecchi fans. The skin-tight clothing is drawn exceptionally detailed, and the countless full-color pages (in the Deluxe edition only, if I'm not mistaken) make the eye candy a dream. I thoroughly enjoyed these vibrant colors in conjunction with Masamune Shirow's exceptional art.

The first book (The Ghost in the Shell), though convoluted, is an excellent read. It delivers the exceptional story in a complete and concise manner: an essential criterion that is the original source content of GITS. 9/10.

The second book (The Ghost in the Shell 1.5: Human Error Processor) is a series of off-beat short-stories involving mostly the other members of Section 9 (Togusa, Batou, etc.) These stories are short and to the point, a great read. 8/10.

This third book (The Ghost in the Shell 2: Man-Machine Interface) is mostly random ecchi eye candy and the attempted story confuses the reader more than bringing much to the table. There is a story, but it isn't delivered smoothly enough to enjoy or to grasp your attention to a pleasurable degree. I would suggest that only completionists or 1-handed page-flipper ecchi fans ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) tackle this one. 5/10.
I had a hard time reading this one straight through because of the story's confusing clusterfuckness, I kept losing interest and repeatedly put the book down/picked it up: it took me a course of over a month to get through reading the whole thing. The score I gave is a bit high for what I truly believe it deserves, but I am biased towards Ghost in the Shell as it's my favorite series, and I did thoroughly enjoy the art. Fight me.

Caz out.
