Signal 100 review
This is a horror manga series that is very interesting in my opinion. It begins with a high school teacher who has a hard life. He gets threatens by the principal if anymore kids skip class he will lose his job, and other such things. His life is unfair and he resents the world for being so unfair. His class is obnoxiously loud and some of them regularly skip class. Before becoming a teacher, he got a degree in psychology. To get back at the class, he hypnotizes his class and here is where it gets exciting. There are 100 unknown commandments that the teacher
has created. These could be as simple as doing jumping jacks, or clapping your hands(neither of these are actually commands in the manga). If you do any of these 100 unknown commandments, then you commit suicide. As you read, many students, as you would expect, start to go a little crazy. It is entertaining and I rate this manga pretty high, not just because of the great story, but the ending is incredible. There are also different bonus times that happen, and if the class can complete them, they are released from the hypnosis. It usually means sacrificing classmates, so they are unsure whether to murder some classmates and get released from the hypnosis, or not murder anyone, but still be at risk at killing themselves if they do any of the commandments. If you are the last one alive, you are also released from the hypnosis. There are other surprising events that also make the story exciting. I think the art was great as well. It really shows how the classmates become traumatized after seeing many of their classmates and friends, die. Therefore, you really can understand how intense it would be if you were in that scenario.

uhhhhhh so the concept is dope. it's a very unique story, definitely nothing i've seen before. when i heard about the concept i knew i needed to read this.
oh boy i didnt know what i was getting myself into the longer the story went on, the worse it got. the characters were boring and sometimes irritating. plot twists were being pulled out of nowhere and it just completely took away from the once unique story. oh yeah plus it got a bit predictable and the ending was a half-assed attempt at something deep but ended up being cliche and awkward (and ruined a character but most characters were bad to begin with) on the bright side, the gore and death scenes are what made me actually sit through and finish this manga. they were so detailed and gruesome even if sometimes unrealistic. i mean unless all these people were actually wax figures without bones in their bodies. overall the story was half-good, half-dogshit and thats what ruined the whole manga. everything else was either good, decent or at least tolerable. in my eyes that deserves a 6/10 cause it really wasn't that good, but it wasn't bad. i wouldn't recommend anyone to read it unless they want to find out what brought the manga down or if they wants to see the shreds of a good story and an original thrilling concept. oh yeah plus the death scenes :) |
