Resumen
If something strange and mysterious occurs, you should go to him. They say he has psychic powers, but convincing him to actually help deal with fierce phantoms may be a challenge.

This manga is still in it's early stages, and hopefully it survives and doesn't get axed, as I see a lot of potential in this series. I have been reading weekly ever since the series started, and I find that it keeps getting better, so that is a good sign for it's future for me.

Story - 7
I'd say that it is currently at a 7, but it does have potential to increase as I have been really enjoying the Kanzaki arc. From the beginning it was interesting to me, and I feel like if the series survives and starts getting longer arcs, the writer will be able to be really creative with what has already been built up.

Art - 8.5
I really like the art style of this series. I think that it fits the series perfectly, and the artist is really good at capturing different emotions in the characters faces. The character designs are also really good, in particular, Kanzaki's design stands out to me, as he reminds me of Hisoka from HxH.

Character - 6.5
I think that this is the series' weakest point, but as with the other sections, it has a lot of room for growth if the series survives. As the series is only 18 chapters long currently, lots of the characters haven't made too many appearances, and haven't really had that many chances to do things, but I think that these characters are a good base for improvement in the future.

Enjoyment - 7
My overall enjoyment of the series is currently around a 7, but as I have said with most of the other sections, there is a lot of room for growth. I think that if the series has some longer arcs, my enjoyment will go up, as currently it is sort of following the pattern of 'issue appears and is solved within a few chapters' and having longer arcs will definitely help to generate more interest.

Phantom Seer is boring. That's the worst thing I can say about it, that's the best thing I can say about it, and I don't expect that to ever change.

This series is every supernatural shonen you've ever seen or read. It has no new ideas, and it exercises no creativity with its execution. It can be described as thus: Yusuke Urameshi becomes a shaman with Bakki as his Guardian Ghost, and joins the Magic Law Association where he battles Curses with the cast of Bleach. That is how uninspired this series is. It has nothing of its own, it just regurgitates stuff from other series.

I can't remember any of the characters' names, because none of them are memorable. They're "MC Boy", "Reluctant Girl", "Definitely Not a Villain", "Tengu Man", and probably a bunch of others I forgot completely. They each periodically get their big shonen "dramatic character-building moments", but it always falls flat since these characters just aren't as interesting as the series thinks they are.

The art is fine. It's the typical kind of thing you'd expect from a supernatural horror-themed shonen. Praising it for being creepy is kind of like praising water for being wet.

That's it. That's my review for Phantom Seer. It's boring, not much else to say. There's nothing to hate about it, but there isn't really anything to like about it either (unless you've never read a supernatural shonen before I guess). It's selling decently and getting reprints, but it never seems to rank higher than the bottom three spots, so it's not unreasonable to expect it to be another Agravity Boys.

The demonic setting of Phantom Seer reminds one of many previous Shounen hits like Bleach, Demon Slayer or Jujutsu Kaisen, so maybe its not extremely original in this aspect. The story is quite decent but nothing overwhelming. That shouldnt stop you from reading this series because while it has some story weaknesses it still strongly supported by the humour of the characters and their interactions.

Iori the main protagonist is interesting in that sense that hes not quite motivated in being the hero, more the opposite at the beginning while other Shounen heroes are unrealisticly over enthusiastic everytime. Thats what I found relatable in him that he can be lazy sometimes like everyone of us. What I also like about him is that hes powerful at the start but not overpowered so he learned everything beforehand. His abilities that connect with phantoms and shadows and how he uses them is well executed in my opinion.

Aibetsu the other main character seemed one dimensional at the start but got more fleshed out as the time went on with some dark revelations concerning her powers. She doesnt have to be saved everytime and learns to fight for herself.
Also Yayoi, Ioris sister is an even stronger female character at the top of this world and thats what we need more of in the Jump magazine.

The art is beautifully made and it was a pleasure every time to look at while reading. Theres something in the way the lines are swung that fit so perfectly and I cant really describe it. The main villain design draws heavy inspiration from the spiderdemon from Demon Slayer which you will notice when you see it, but isnt a cheap knock off, he has different abilities.

Another really important aspect is the horror element with the horrifyingly drawn demons and faces which captures the atmosphere very well. There are also some quite disturbing scenes later that add to this shock factor.

Overall after reading its first 18 chapters I recommend this series, also because i forgot to mention, the worldbuilding was also not bad with the whole different shaman organisations and Ioris and his sisters backstory not fully uncovered there is quite some room to explore in the future.

I read the first chapter of Phantom Seer as soon as it came out. I remember thinking that it had a really good start and that it could maybe become one of the main faces of Shonen Jump manga in the future. After a couple weeks worth of chapters, the manga kind of faded from my mind and I ended up putting it on hold for months. Today I came back to it and read all the remaining chapters I'd missed. As of now, I think this manga has the potential to last long in the survival game that is the Shonen jump magazine.. Here's why:

[Very light spoilers ahead]

Story: 7/10
Demons, curses, paranormal activity are themes that have been used in many different mangas before. Lately, exorcising has grown increasingly popular with hits such as Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man and many more. Phantom Seer being one of the latest mangas of that sort to come out, isn't very original in it's plot but nonetheless, for now, it does a good job at executing the theme. Now what's above average for a manga with so little chapters is it's world building and the large amount of information on techniques and such that it elaborates on. Many interesting aspects have already been introduced to the story but they could also turn against it and end up creating plot holes. Some chapters hold really captivating moments that made me think "Damn, that's a very cool detail", for instance in chapter 3 when the phantom with the "yeah" tick is revealed in page 12 but has actually been saying "yeah" since page 6 and blending with our characters conversations without the reader even realizing. I mean, it's basically foreshadowing but implemented in a very cool way if you ask me.
In conclusion this is a pretty information saturated manga, with good story telling and a plot that makes you want to investigate every panel for small details such as the one above.

Art: 9/10
It's a two man manga so the art is expected to be good, but damn. For a weekly manga the art is pretty much monthly seinen manga level. It has some eeeeeexcellent horror panels and also uses modern and good looking paneling techniques. The art-style itself is fairly common and plays it safe.
In conclusion, amazing art, loads of details and even some color pages here and there. Of course it's not Berserk or Vagabond so it doesn't get the 10/10 but the reason I still gave it 9/10 is because of the time limit the artist has to draw these amazing looking chapters.

Characters: 7.5/10
The characters are good. Their personalities are distinct and different, we have a whole range of them already. We know the two main characters' goals and ideologies and there isn't really anything special with them, all I can say is that they're pretty broad and leave room for a lot of development in the future. Some characters like Tsumuji Komachi from chapter 14, can throw in some interesting train of thoughts and ways of thinking. We haven't seen much of her but I like her a lot, she's defo one of the most memorable characters for me.

Enjoyment: 7/10
This manga was pretty enjoyable to read. Although sadly it didn't give me that rush to read the next chapter immediately. I wouldn't say it's something to read when you want to chill as it still requires some good amount of attention if you want to get the best out of it. Anyways for now we've had mostly side stories contributing the evolution of the ideals and goals of our characters but it was nonetheless entertaining.

TL;DR: Exorcising manga with amazing art and horror panels, plot is a bit wobbly for now, like a stray dog, but the story has a lot of information and interesting details to offer and everything feels like it's very well thought. Worth a read, I think this could very well become a long running manga as it has a lot of room to grow.

Overall I'd give it a 7/10 for now but if all goes well I'd definitely see it get to an 8.

Phantom seer, at first taste, seems like a potential candidate for the illustrious title of: "the next big thing." But, as the last 5, or maybe ten chapters have come and gone, the buildup provided (the very build up that made me excited about this series) has been squandered by generic, garbage, and an utterly boring moment (which might not be able to be considered just a moment, because it's last for over 5 chapters).

This series, if it get axed in the near future, will be eliminated all because of this one fight: the dollhouse fight, which is still going on, despite me cringing at seeing that it's still a thing with each new release.

So, if you haven't read this series yet, let me put this into perspective: there's some really cool story elements going on with this story. While some feels generic, other pieces are completely fresh and innovative (specifically his relationship with his overpowered mage sister). As the series chugs along, a level of anticipation builds because the author begins to hit his stride, and then, when a big fight is about to break out and build onto this train of good vibes, everything gets ruined. Instead of something interesting happening, the MC and his new friends get ambushed in a doll house, and fight possessed dolls for multiple chapters in a row. They fight for so long, that they're still fighting as I type this review, and in comparison to other chapters, the fights were quick and decisive, which makes this garbage pale of an arc way longer than any other combat moment in the series thus far.

PROS:

The artwork is very good.

Some of the main story elements are very interesting.

The powers are cool looking, and provide some level of mystique within the series lore.

CONS:

Dolls.

This is a fairly new manga, with 19 chapters as of writing this. I usually don't write reviews for serializing manga since my opinion can quickly change, but I feel as if this story needs more attention. I'm not going to give a brief explanation about the plot of this story since you can read the synopsis yourself, I'm going to write a review, not a summary.

To be blunt, this is a really solid manga. The art is breathtaking at times for a story that updates weekly. The mangakas have a unique way of drawing horror panels which further enhances your reading experience. The clean and detailed art style is satisfying to see on each page. Add this with the eye catching character designs and you're left with eye candy. Well, that's what would happen if the story and characters weren't interesting themselves. That is not the case though, you see we are shown an interesting set of characters in a developing world which leaves us wanting for more.

Each character has a different personality which makes their interactions funny since they may clash a lot. The female characters aren't used for fan service only and I hope it stays that way, I don't want to see fictional tits on my screen even though I like girls. The women in this manga are strong, mentally and physically, paring with the male characters. We don't have a vast cast but I'm sure it'll grow alongside their world.

The setting is still off since the world building hasn't been the focal point as of now. It's too early to judge (at least in my opinion) them for that so I can brush it off now, but if it doesn't change in the future we're going to left with a huge problem.

Overall this is a nice read if you want something generic but executed well.
